I really liked what you did with the reflection theme, delving into the idea of images as information and blending that with magic in a very intriguing way. The action was also quite good. The ending could have been stronger, though - I would personally have gone with a sentence or two of the narrator worrying about the potential dangers to the city caused by the escaped cognito hazard.
