Do you have preloading enabled? If you open Users/<YourUser>/.prefs/tales-of-androgyny-preferences as a text file, and change the value of preload from true to false, you shouldn't immediately get that error.
That's just your computer restricting access to the files in that folder - if you're the system admin you should be able to override those permissions.
