I had no idea that this term existed, thank you very much for explaining it to me.
As for the saving instructions, I really appreciate them. I followed them to the letter, but there doesn't seem to be a folder called "Dear Althea Final". Could it be because I installed the Itch.io launcher and the game on the external drive?
