What I liked:

  • The artwork is great. I'm personally not a fan of the colors you chose, but that didn't hinder my appreciation of the art itself.
  • Hover dialogue/text above objects that can be interacted with is implemented really well. I didn't feel like I was missing anything.
  • Music was really well done. It fit the game completely.

Suggestions/Feedback

  • This is kind of a personal peeve but it leads to an overpoint. I feel like the Escape key should also close the inventory. My instinct was to just hit escape. When that didn't work, I quickly figured out that I need to click on the inventory bag again. This leads into the point of alternate keys. I'm still working on this myself. Depending on the type of game, some people (myself included) like to use WASD for movement, spacebar to jump, escape to close things. Others prefer arrow keys and keys like ASZX for actions (i think part of that is due to emulators, but thats just a guess.) So in the future, just keep that in mind.
  • This game could really benefit from a hint system. You could implement a journal that keeps track of what you just accomplished, with key requirements for the next step be bold or italicized in the text. Or make it timer based where the character thinks to themself and that hints at the next step.

Overall this is a really good entry and you should be proud of what you accomplished!
