The context is funny; I did not expect that at all! X)
I also like the look of the town with some skyscrapers and the stock exchange in the middle at the end of the way, the ambiance you managed to set up with the stock exchange digital screen background and music. (Nice voice, by the way. ;) ‘Tendiiiiiies…’)
Nevertheless, I think one problem is that the precise directions are not necessarily clear from the beginning (I was wondering for a moment, and MishVerhuj’s comment shows the same). For example, the core mechanic of having to run into the ATMs to destroy them is not obvious, as we are not sure to deal damage before actually destroying one (once I had, it became crystal clear, thankfully).
I would suggest making it clearer, for example, you could start the scene with a little dialogue with the big Reddit guy.
Some various comments:
- The WASD keys are QWERTY only here, but the arrow keys were enabled (my AZERTY and myself thank you for this! :)). You should indicate in the game page that the arrow keys work too.
- Toggling between player mode and fullscreen can lead to only partial display on the screen, but this is a navigator-specific issue, I am not saying you are at fault. (Those are resolution- and sound-error-prone.)
- Gameplay: I think the ATMs rotate a bit too precisely towards the hero; it would be probably better to add a small delay, so that we get a chance at avoiding the credit cards more easily. Think of the giant rotating eyes from Super Mario 64. ;)
- There are some collision bugs: you can pass through some buildings. You can even fall (to your death?) if you go to the side, but since the hero comes back at the beginning, I guess the classic broker suicide was planned. ;)
- What a huge boss! XD Were you traumatized by ATMs and bills? That would be legitimate. ;)
- I am not sure if the die (behind the big Reddit guy at the beginning) is useful in any way; I think the connection to the theme is money and gambling, which is linked to playing the markets. I personally would have liked the theme to be also translated gameplay-wise, but that is a personal preference.
- I ended up with not enough funds to buy any new stock (as seen on the screen capture below), while all ATMs seemed to have already been destroyed; does it mean you have to be careful and not take too much damage so that you can get to the ending, or is there no specific ending sequence?
- The ATM machines are arranged in a quite linear way; I think putting them in more random places to explore would have added some welcome variety.
It could be some nice action-collectible type of game, you have the funny context, I just feel the mechanics are still a bit sketchy.
Cheers with my new big hands!
