Interesting story. I like how it fits the limitation and at the same time makes a lot of sense. I still have to read 1984, so I think some parts might have flown over my head, but I think I got the gist of it.
One thing that I think would really improve immersion would be to make it so that the doomscrolling happened inside a smartphone display, forcing us to do the scrolling ourselves (I have absolutely no idea if that is possible using calico, though). Some ambient sound effects would also be nice - but again I think it's not actually possible on calico and it kinda goes beyond what an interactive fiction is.
Overall very interesting read. I also liked the pictures, and how the colors were used. Good job!
