This is a very polished, fun experience! The overall presentation is amazing and cohesive, unlike my game in which I changed the art style about 3 times. But one lack of consistency that made me fumble a bit is the different ways in which the shapes are drawn. The rectangle goes corner to corner and the circle draws from the center. I kept trying to draw both shapes corner to corner as I do in Photoshop and that didn't pan out well. But maybe it's easier to follow the grid with this system and if that is your reasoning I can understand the design decision.

Thank you for your feedback! The reason is half ease of use and half me being in a rush. Originally, the circle select tool did work like the rectangle tool, but constrained to have a constant radius. After some testing, it became apparent that the awkward snapping caused by this restriction wasn’t worth the consistency. Turns out the problem of smooth elliptical selection is less trivial than I once thought. Once I got used to the new system I found that it was actually faster than my previous setup. I did worry about the inconsistency being confusing to new players, but figured it wouldn’t be a problem. In post-jam testing, however, it became apparent that it was actually was an issue when everyone I watched playing struggled with selection the first time around. It didn’t help that I made the late addition of the undo button being an unlockable upgrade which requires you to make a few paintings before being able to afford it. I’m glad you enjoyed the game despite that!
