I'm happy to see another callback to previous SBIG jams, and a sequel no less! Though sadly for me I think this one misses the mark, especially in comparison to its predecessor.

For starters the movement still feels as awkward as ever, though with the first game you were moving through tight obstacle courses so it was pretty engaging trying to get through to the next point. With this, its basically just a big empty map where the only thing stopping you is the car being unable to go up certain inclines and being unable to flip upright.

Which was another big issue I encountered, on all three maps I eventually had to give up because I was being spawned in a checkpoint on a slope and the car would roll over before I even had a chance to go anywhere. After about 10 or so tries each time I had to call it quits. And having to start over and rolling over is something I'd expect in a SBIG racing game, just that being seemingly unable to progress pushed it more towards the bad end than good.

I did find it funny though that when you respawn your car becomes all shrunk and deformed!

Frankly I think the checkpoints just need to be placed on flatter terrain or the car spawned closer to the ground.

As for the driving itself for the most part it felt fine, maybe the only thing I'd suggest is a sort of cooldown boost option to help get yourself up some slopes (some of which really didn't seem all that steep) or to launch yourself ridiculously far off a hillside.

The game is clearly unfinished, which isn't surprising since this was done in the latter half of the jam. But it would've been cool to have features like the checkpoint time implemented. Also I saw someone else saying that the color customization worked for them but it didn't for me. Though frankly it wasn't entirely clear how to confirm the color so maybe I just missed the option. And I was getting warnings saying there were known issues with my graphics driver and the version used in-game so maybe that screwed it as well.

When driving around with the music playing it honestly felt like some late 90's or early 2000's tech demo. With just how vast and bumpy the terrain is, the simplicity of the car model, the grid textures, and the more electronic or punk influenced tracks.

This was neat, but it was missing some stuff and I sadly don't think it lives up to the first game (or at least my memory of the first game). But for getting something done late and submitting at all thats something to be commended.

Good work!

A fair review. I appreciate and love your ideas! While these issues do make the game less fun. I am aiming to work on them through updates long after the jam is over. So look forward to it! Thanks again!
