There was a prompt at the top of the screen that showed how many villagers you needed to get across to get to the next way but I'll admit it wasn't super clear what it meant.
oh, yeah I thought that was how many to get across before the next wave started or something since it reset and started counting again when it got over six, at least i think i saw it do that. it counted fast so i can't be fully sure.
