Really cool game, guys! It's actually super impressive that this was made in such a short amount of time. Reminds me a lot of Zelda, which I assume was a big inspiration.

Things I liked:

  • The games animations are really cool. Your characters 3-combo attack animation is fluid and satisfying. I also very much like the inclusion of a jump attack and a rolling attack. That animation for the skeletons flipping back was super cool haha.
  • The character models are great. While not super PS1, they still have a retro edge to them.
  • I love the old-school fantasy look and feeling the game has. Fighting low-poly skeletons in a dungeon will never not be charming to me.
  • The combat feels very juicy. I particularity like the slow-down effect as it really adds weight and emphesis to attacks.

Improvements:

  • The character feels heavy - I can't really put a finger on this but the character feels kinda heavy to control.
  • A lock-on system would've went a long way as I often found it hard to hit the skeletons.
  • Rolling is weird & kinda useless. The roll is far too long and slow. I didn't really find much use for it other than repositioning. Maybe that's what it was for? I was thinking it was going to be a Dark-Souls type of roll where you use the roll to dodge the enemies attacks but none of their attacks really need to be rolled through.
  •  Instead of rolling, a good way to avoid enemy damage could be a Sekiro-esque deflect system. I think it would work better with the enemies current attack animations & patterns.
  • Obviously a menu would've been nice, but I'm sure you know that. I had to quit out the game and go back onto the Itch page to check the controls in case I was missing something.
  • Rolling mid-air lets you make a lot of distance and while doing it I hit a wall without collision and fell out the map.

Overall really nice game guys! It has a looooot of potential. You should really be proud of what you've managed to make.
