https://itch.io/profile/desirelinesgames i lose the ability to play after I kill someone on the canoe or get infected.

The canoe is an ending scene for the game.

What about when I get infected

There are multiple scenes in which you can get infected. You can get infected during an ending scene (guaranteed if Happy Endings Cheat is on while never going to the security room). The game will also end if everyone remaining is a werewolf.
