In answer to your question, I feel that allowing us to automate Erika's work schedule is a fantastic idea.
Though it's not an issue if you have the one playthrough, if, like me, you have run through the game with four or five runs so that you can experience loads of the possible options, then building up some cash at the start of the run starts to feel like a bit of a grind with all the walking from location to location between jobs.
As such, getting to partly automate the initial stage not only makes a 'worker' playthrough where you don't join the guilds more feasible, it also makes it far easier and less grindy those who want to work honestly in order to buy their initial start-up fees rather than exploiting the gambling system to power-grind some cash (not that I would do that, shamefully looks away).
