After playing through Gil's and Parker's playthrough. I have come up with 3 hypothesises
1. Our main character is dead
2. Herbert is dead
3. We are in a coma or in purgatory

Evidence behind the main character being dead was in Parker's playthrough when we saw ourself talking to us (Herbert) which by the way, I can't believe you made it this easy for me to figure out that conclusion. So after you go through Gil's walkthrough, you'll find out you were in an accident ( what gave me all these hypothesises). This would probably be the reason why you can't remember everything from your past. So this is how I'm guessing the plot to be. We got into an accident with our twin (Herbert). But the person who survived was not us it was Herbert ( who is the person we are playing with) the accident must have been soo tragic to the point that when he gained amnesia he thought he was the other twin. The twins had a very deep connection and similarity to the point that it could fool Gil's nose and Mark's feline intuition or Mark knows the truth but he doesn't want to reveal it to us. By the way his parents cradled him after amnesia, may show how they loved the other twin more than Herbert and how they were trying to force him into the role as his brother. It may also explain why they forced him to keep the pendant with him always since they know how dear it was to his brother. I don't know why exactly they chose that school but I'll find out when I finish all the other playthroughs.

This is the most probable situation. So this is the plot. We got into an accident with our twin. We managed to survive but during the incident we gained a severe trauma of Herbert dying, to the point we tried committing suicide. Fortunately we only managed to give ourself amnesia which erased every painful memory of the incident as well as most memories with Herbert in them and since we were inseparable we lost a lot of memories leaving shards here and there. Our parents are lying to us telling us that Herbert is away but we never can get in touch with him since he is dead. The reason we can't get all our memories back is because our consciousness is in denial trying to erase the memories of our brother. It goes even soo far to stop us by trying to give us massive headaches and hiding the characters in our dreams when we finally manage to get a remnant of our memories. Our consciousness is trying to do it's best to forget everything but as we progress and start to love and be happy it's growing weaker and weaker showing off bits of terrible memories. Soon it won't be able to hold any longer and the truth about everything will be revealed.

This is probably not the best hypothesis. So this is how the plot goes. We ended up in an accident with our brother, He died but we managed to barely survive. In our coma we gained amnesia that made us believe we're in a world where nothing went wrong. Our consciousness (You know what, I'm calling him Anti-graham) stole all our memories and left us in this world thinking it was for the best for us. What he didn't know was that the people in this world are actually his memories trying to get him to wake up. His parents gave him a pendant to show him the way back to the light and this is probably the key to waking him up. The love interests we interact with are actually our deepest emotions and memories. Which explains why how whenever we get closer to them our memories become more clearer and longer. When Anti-graham found this out, he knew that he couldn't interact with our main character otherwise there would be a high chance that he would either wake up or die. So he tried stopping us by blacking the characters in our dreams and giving us massive headaches. If this hypothesis is true, we COMPLETELY CANNOT TRUST the main character we saw in Parker's playthrough in our dream. There is a high possibility that if we listen to it we'll lose our memories and Anti-graham will kill everybody in the world and we'll be stuck in a coma forever.
Alternate 3
The probability of this increased when I saw the first pic on this page. So here's the plot. Herbert and I are dead. We're both in purgatory due to us regretting the fact we died unfairly. Due to unknown forces, AKA "plot", our souls were combined into one. In this place everybody is dead. They all are angels trying to help you get to heaven but are prohibited from telling you the truth about your past. We're not supposed to have any memories of getting there but due to the fault of our souls being combined, Both of our consciousness are trying to show us the truth. So the Place is forced to make a situation for us to go with and the people there are supposed to follow the script. Hiding the fact that we're not dead and trying to capture our hearts and send us to heaven before we can remember everything and choose to stay there forever. The Place is giving us massive headaches to try and find Anti-graham and Anti-herbert to stop them from helping us from figuring out the truth.(I'll explain what the truth is another time)
You guys are amazing with love and gore 😍😍😍. I loved how you allowed me to be rude to the character if I genuinely wanted to do so and how the stories clash each other only a little bit giving me lots of stories to read. I wish this game becomes the most downloaded game in itch and that you guys continue the great work
