Terrific artwork but terrible writing.
This is just a tired anime clichés extravaganza with furries. Looks good but is really not worth attention.
Oh no! Someone dares to have criticisms for an in-development game! How could they, oh no!
The game being in development hardly excuses flaws with the core elements the developers are definitely not going to change after putting so much work into them, like the general stylistic direction or major plot points.
Let me summarize the demo: "Oh no, everyone's dead! Men, women, and even children! Such a massive and senseless loss of life! It's such a horrible tragedy! Oh god, there's a plush bunny in the sand covered in child's blood... BUT HEY, THE FOX IS A TSUNDERE, EVERYONE! LOOOL! O: OOOOOOOH! D:< NO I AM NOT! NOT LIKE I WANTED YOUR ATTENTION YOU BAAAAKA!"
That is just... not good writing. And the fact something so outright bad made it to the demo stage shows this is the intended direction for the project. So yeah, this is just a bad VN. Still in the making, but already clearly bad.
Seems a bit harsh for a story that's barely been started, and we can't really figure out what its intentions are yet.
also about the whole "who cares about everybody who died at all" I'd think they would explore how the characters feel more about that later, but I don't really know, you may be right.
I don't really mean to be rude about this and all but why do you feel so strongly that this game should be pushed down and not be seen? There's a lot of people that enjoy silly things like what your describing, and itch shouldn't be full of vn's that only you deem as "appropriate" or "well written." There are many worse ones, it's all just a matter of which ones are the better ones.
(You seem like an expert in this field, do you have experience writing vn's or stories? You give incredibly detailed reviews.)
seems like you hate a lot more than you like tho :p
if you want a high quality story that meets your expectations, just make it yourself lmao. If you can't even do that simple task you don't get to criticize others
at the end of the day, its still your opinion and I respect that, but making basically hate comments nitpicking what you don't like doesn't help the author really.
Go back and read your own comment. You just literally made a suggestion that only accomplished writers are allowed to criticize literary media. I'll be generous and call it silly, but you should know better than make such comments.
Oh well, what did I expect from a little troll who dives into my comments history in an attempt to dig up dirt instead of making a proper case for his point.
I made that comment as a joke wasn't really post to be taken seriously sorry that you thought so even if the plot is bad to your liking I would really like to see we're this vn goes because there aren't many vn that goes into this topic and they already addressed onto why the characters haven't had a reaction yet but even then it's still a demo that can be changed and still we have yet to be seen on what things they have in store so I would be so quick to criticize something that's released so long ago that's most likely bound to change even if it's your opinion don't be so flat out mean about it
I understand that you want to give the developer the benefit of the doubt, I imagine that you liked the cool artwork and want them to succeed, on the grounds that you are not a bad person and don't want anyone to fail. But your trust in them is misplaced.
Because, again, I'm not criticizing here the things that are easy to change, I'm pointing out how disjointed and outright senseless the CORE elements are, the ones that are NOT GOING TO CHANGE. Because changing them would mean throwing away a good chunk of content and time they spent on it, remaking the whole project from the ground up and picking a whole different approach to writing, presentation, and development! They are NOT going to do that.
I'm pretty sure they already understood that and abandoned the project, so idk why you care about it at all. It's a dead project that was born dead. Get over it. Get real.
I would say for us all to chill, but it seems there is a sorta "high" over this, so I just want to add on to this.
Yes, I'll agree the game is a bit generic and bare-bones. The characters follow tropes and what they call the first build has such little content compared to other FVNs that it could be called a demo of a demo. But I think the point is just seeing how people respond to the setting, characters, and art style. And with how many people show their support on Kofi, Itchio, and the survey they did, it's clear that people love it all.
Now, let's go over your points. You complain about how the core elements are "difficult to change"/"Stuck that way". These core elements being art or the major plot points. That was actually a concern of the creators as well. So much so that the artist's name wasn't initially added to the credits, most likely to reduce bias or in case they phase the art out. People actually recognized it and even positively replied about it. And about the writing? It's actually been done from the ground up! That's another reason they are slow, but that's explained a bit further later.
Also what other elements are there?
Puzzles? There's none of that!
Major plot points? Aside from the crash, all other plots are up in the air(ironically)
Routes? "In development", know what that means?
And sure, there are anime references (Hisoka and Demon Slayer) and the like, but it can just be seen as a quirk of the game. You can see other FVNs use memes and references, and are incredibly popular.
For the last of your points, which is that the game is dead... it may be silent, but not dead. Shy of their discord(for now), I followed their sources to see that they still are trying hard. The reason they're so silent is because they want to release the game on a monthly basis. You can see them sometimes answering itchio questions, looking for people's responses, and posting updates to show they aren't dead. Alright, they haven't released build 2 despite being promised, but hey, there's other games to play while waiting. That's not to mention them looking for a new story writer
All in all, the game has been in development for around 2 years with barely anything to show for it. I have been here since the demo was released, and the days will continue. It's frustrating to wait for something to update, but at least I'm keeping an open mind over the whole thing. We all have different likes and dislikes. You're allowed your own opinion, but that doesn't make it other people's opinions.
The survey: https://rentry.co/fotte
I don't follow this game but I decided to click on this page cause it's been a while since its demo release and I see this argument.
I'm just going to have to point you toward the fact that editors and proofreaders exist and they are considered PROFESSIONALS when reading and judging if something is "good". They know what makes for good writing but lack the ability to create for themselves. Especially so since they are CONSUMERS just like all of us.
Your comment does not make any rational or logical sense. Oh, you don't like this thing? You go make something better and let us all judge. That's like 5-year-old me trying to come up with an argument about something.
You don't have to be a professional to be able to tell what is bad writing...
"this was weeks ago, please go away." This applies to you more than it does to me. Replying to a 2+ month old comment with a go-away. It appears my comment about 5-year-old me trying to come up with an argument still stands.
