I'm all for supporting the creators, but paying a monthly subscription for content updates once a year? It's a bit overblown.

Patreon is for people to support you during the development. The game is already free and has been free since day 1. If you don't want to support us, don't, and you can still enjoy the game. Those who have liked our work and want to see us keep working on the game full-time (and can afford it) do support us on Patreon, some for a month, others for months.
