(Spoilers and critique of the new update)

Honestly this VN is amazing. Easily one of the best but Tate's route just felt the weakest to me. It was all going really well up until the Protag and Tate go to the tribe Tate grew up in. It started great but kinda fell off near the end with Tate's identity and name crisis being solved within the chapter which makes me less interested in what his route holds in store cause his arc already felt complete. But the worst part of the route for me is the borderline defending of slavery. Especially since it frames the Protag as in the wrong for feeling empathy for a slave. And after that whole mess with the slave, it makes me weary for how this vn will treat the Protag because so far, he just reads like a complete punching bag with not much of a personality. I mean no offense at all with this and am begging on my hands and knees for you to not delete this comment. What I wrote at the beginning of this still stands. This is one of the best vns I've read, and I hope it only becomes better and better. It's just the bad things about this vn I've noticed makes me worry for its future.

MAJOR Spoilers

Hello there, I'm just a fan of the VN, but I hope you won't mind some input I put in for your critiques. So, with the identity crisis thing, Tate did not like his name (Mostly his last) due to him thinking the last name Foster is his parent's way of saying "Hey look your adopted. ". Cody (Or MC) tells Tate near the end that maybe he is thinking too much into it and that Foster also means woodsman and that he loves his cheerful woodscat, which in turn makes Tate realize that the name his lover is saying to him is a great name, and he should not change it, makes him think it over and he agrees with the name. (It is a lot better explained in the VN) On the slave thing Cody with is good heart is thinking about the humane things and all, Tate on other hand is thinking about the logical side as he states its savage and will just kill people if it was out in the wild. It is also shown, why yes, it is treated like a slave, it is also a lot better off with the wildfurs then in the wild trying to survive looking for food and water while also trying not to get killed by other Savagefurs and hunters alike. The lizard himself did not want to leave even after Cody offered to get it out of there.  (This is all said and done in the path you take if you ignore to go scavenging and stay in the camp).

(More spoilers for some routes tread carefully)

Don't agree with everything said here but i think it will make an interesting discussion so i'll give my thoughts on this. First thing is I hard disagree with Tate's route being the weakest the story and characters of this vn are all great but Tates writing and backstory I feel like is the best by far. The concept of his past  is really interesting to me and I think it was made really well. I also relate to Tates character a lot more than I ever can with Dallan and Aiden because the things he struggles with are things I had to as well (obviously not talking about the tribe here just saying lol.) and I find the way he deal with his loneliness and feelings of not being liked by the people he cares about and found how he always tried to be cheerful regardless to be really inspiring. To move on from just his character and to your issue with his name I think how it was done really fits with his character. He's  not the type to let that drag on and asking the mc to name him just feels right after he almost died after saving him from the tribe. Really shows how strong the bond the mc and Tate made during the first chapter is. I understand that the name is a major part of Tates character so far but i think it was handled well. (hope i explained my pov of it well enough.) Also wanna say Tate's breakdown about the egg scene was really well written and gave me chills and has been the only scene in any vn that made me tear up.

Done simping cause honestly what characters your favorite doesn't matter much everyone has different preferences. To move on to the slavery scene I agree mostly that made me a bit uncomfy and found the defending of it to be stupid but I understand that the culture in the game is different than what we have and that they see (forgot what the lizards species was.....) as a monster and think it needs to be killed on sight and they (everyone but the mc) don't know that they can learn and be taught to understand language. They have no reason to see it as anymore than a monster because of the act the species has done. also quick reminder they are training to kill nightfallen knowing that they are training people to kill them as well it makes sense why they are treated roughly . To recap that I agree it's wrong but makes sense in the confines of the story.

Next yeah the mc's an absolute doormat it kinda bugs me too but it's a romance vn so it makes sense to have it like that because it makes it easier to explore the romanceable characters personality. But from what I've seen from the mc he seems like a people pleaser type of person so it's in character imo.  (speculation but with how this vn's gone so far with it's characters I wouldn't be shocked if chapter 2 is more focused on the mc.)

To agree with you again this vn's amazing and easy top 3 in what I've read so far I look forward to route 4 and chapter 2. Have a good day!

(Pretty sure how i wrote this out sucks sorry.)

I was gonna reply with an essay myself but the other guys explained everything pretty much perfectly, but I'll still add this: I tried my best in the short time that the player has to experience the world, to make sure they understand that the lizard is not equivalent to a slave, that's just what the MC thinks because he is way too emphatic and naive for his own good. Yes, their species is more than just dumb animals, but not even close to Wild Furs, and especially not people.

I'd say that the fact he is the only one to even try to defend a Savage Fur from what he thinks is 'slavery' is a strong argument towards the fact that he does have a personality of his own, since all the other people (Dallan, Aiden, Scribbles etc) would agree with Tate in that regard.
