Great game, I was really invested! Typically these puzzles are either too easy or too hard, but I feel like this was done just right. The pointers were perfect, and each level had a different way of presenting the puzzles to the player. It was also cool to know from the get-go that we could expect to finish this game in 15 mins on the last playthrough - that meant players would probably spend more time on it, but overall it's not terribly long, and made respawning at the beginning a quick process rather than a nightmare. I even looked up the ASCII table! Very cool subject matter and delicately handled to show neither side is right sometimes. That said, I do have some recommendations: 1) A press to skip faster through the text would be needed in these time sensitive games, when you consult the newspaper or calendar again (otherwise you feel that you're losing precious time). 2) The narrative was captivating but a bit on the nose sometimes, or a bit old-fashioned, i.e. "your loving son", 3) I was confused that the text was telling me gameplay-wise I needed something sharp to open the level 1 box, but I never managed to get that item to get the box open - was that a red herring? 4) I didn't understand I had to go back to the table and press E again for the next letter in level 2, which made me end up guessing the code I needed between level 2 and 3 by going down the ASCII table, 5) I think the narrative could be slightly adjusted to be more inclusive, for example cutting the use of "men" to mean all people as in "mobilise our men" - women are in the army too!:] Overall, awesome replayability factor, nice you did all the code, and if you collabed with an artist in the future to make the UI stand out, then this is an awesome little game!
