Let me just say, if your intention was to create a game that made you feel trapped in an abusive romantic relationship, A-GODDAMN-STAR!!! Cuz man this game had bugs. Bugs up the butt.
And yet... I just couldn't quit it. Maybe it's the great visual assets you used. Maybe it's the fact you made the main villain such a creep that needed teaching a lesson. Maybe it's just that hitting things and bouncing off their heads was fun. I persisted.
Now, the specifics! Lemme see...
- If I died I lost my double jump, and usually my trident too. If I reloaded my save at the starting statue... same thing. Meaning every time I wanted to fight Eros, it took 4-5 minutes to regrind all my powers.
- Ares is fun to fight, but he can just be wailed on. Aphrodite too, but you at least moves around a bit more. Eros and the Nightmare were the best. Even if the Nightmare could get you outside of the arena with their skulls.
- Sometimes Aphrodite's raining lances spawn even after she's gone.
- Eros can fire his lazer from a sport even after he's moved.
- Sometimes I would land on a platform, and the enemy couldn't hit me, or I couldn't hit them, or both. I think dashing fixed it?
- The pit in the castle doesn't respawn you like the others. Looks like you go off-map and the game kills you. I suffered quite a few frustrating ends to that...
- Speaking of which, the dash could recharge a bit faster, or at least have a tell for when it does.
- As you're probably aware, the voice acting is good, but the levelling/balancing is bad.
- Like I said, Eros comes across well as a scumbag, but maybe the VO was a bit too slow. He really relished every syllable. On one had it tested my patience. On the other, I guess it did make me hate him more.
- There's a golden platform on the Nightmare path that can only be accessed by bouncing off an enemies' head. It doesn't do anything... why?
- The save-point guy's dialogue scrawls too slow.
I have footage that I need to edit quite a bit I'll let you know when I upload it. May it bring you as much joy and pain as your game brought me!
