tsp and oihs are very different visual novels
edit: for further clarification, tsp is a romance vn. sex is not a central theme to the story
So, your complaint is that the main character isn't a dominant top? I can respect that.
Although Orange does technically have the right to write his VNs however he wants, and since they're passion projects, he's not really required to write it the way readers want.
I will say though, there are a few Visual Novels in which the MC is a top. But dominant? Yeah, that's in like 10 VNs max (out of 60 or so), and most of them are because they're route based romance VNs, so of course there are submissive dateable characters. All that to say I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you for characters to be dom tops in VNs. But that's just my opinion
It is quite strange that you have already discerned the entire plot when the story hasn't even told us anything remotely sexual about either character. While it is highly likely the prince will be submissive, who's to say the big guy doesn't like having his ponytail grabbed while having his cheeks clapped? At the end of the day it is the story that the dev wants to tell! Nothing wrong with constructive criticism but simply venting crap like I won't read it bcuz you're not making the character a top isn't remotely constructive!
One of the best VNs I've read is Remember the Flowers and admittedly I was apprehensive about reading it the second it announced the MC was asexual but I gave it a shot and they did not disappoint. I didn't attack the dev for not making the character I wanted. I took it as the story the dev wanted to tell.
Often times these stories are influenced by the patrons anyway. Many devs have polls which allow their supporters to influence things in the story. You're scrutinizing a project you've contributed $0 towards like they charged you for it, Karen! Being dominant might get you what you want in bed(doubtful 😑) but at the end of the day it is probably 80% boss bottom bitches paying the $5 or $10 subs.
You needn't respond to this by the way. I have no patreon account that requires your coin and your opinion means far less than that to me. This post, as yours was, is just meaningless thoughts spoken to express my distaste of your idea that this world or any other would cater to such a person as you. I'll even assist your cause and make your lil ego feel a whole 4 inches tall by giving this comment it's first dislike 😋. Aren't I the sweetest?
Out of respect for Orange I shall try and post a less "vitriolic" response. Please stop posting "I will abandon it like I did OIHS" as your comments in this chat. Many creators read comments here and become disheartened by what is read. I hate seeing projects fall into perpetual hiatus due to a few bad remarks.
My phone is cluttered with untold stories that end due to the creators seeking therapy over a handful of discontented assholes. Orange is one of the more reliable devs and consistently puts out content monthly. I don't want OIHS and TSP to join the untold ranks bcuz everyone feels the need to attack them. These are offered freely and don't deserve an "I hate your work" from every person who disagrees with the devs choices.
I'd hate for my jargon to affect the VN negatively, but I am half vitriolic on my father's side and I still like the hate so keep it comin bitches😋! At least it means you pendejos are reading it all!🤣
Actually I didn't assume anything, it was just a question. I don't demand my prefered content trying to force him. Every dev knows that his/her product won't be liked by all the players. I'm not a hater of his work. That is not for me doesn't mean that I don't respect it. I just want to know if, for me, worths it to follow this project. Luckly a lot of players will enjoy this game; maybe I will or maybe I wont.
I can get behind that idea. I have supported a crowd-funded bara game project before, of which the dev didn't specify what is going to be in the game when the project was first announced. I backed the project for its art style / puzzle elements / etc and just assumed that the dev would be fair about the distribution of their nsfw content (in the sense that there will be a roughly equal amount of top and bottom content), but it didn't turn out that way. By the time I dropped that project, 8 out of 10 of the datable characters are exclusively for bottom players, which really pissed me off.
But, that's not exactly the case for this project. This project is rather new, and like the other guy in the thread pointed out, dev did mention this game is going to be different from OIHS. It's probably too early even for the dev to tell you how the story is going to play out. Worst case scenario, if the dev intend to make this project like OIHS and only feature content that is catered for sub bottoms, the project is free and public and you can still drop it. Although I agree if the dev can make it clearer, at some point, what type of content is going to be featured, it would be better, so you don't have to get too emotionally invested.
While I'm sorry that you feel that way, I do not regret the things stated. I enjoy criticism that serves to help grow but comments like theirs just feel like bullying to change the narrative. I don't see threatening to quit or expressing discontentment of OIHS as a way of building TSP up but rather fast tracking it to VN purgatory.
I also got the first impression that their comments came off somewhat passive aggressive, but I really don't think you viciously attacking them for being passive aggressive helped contributing to the constructive criticism you hoped the dev could get?
I'm more of a completionist type of player, so I would play nearly everything a game has to offer, and I agree with what the other guy said below this thread, that there is a huge imbalance between top and bottom content in the bara / furry type of games. Other than games like OIHS that are entirely for only bottom players, top players usually get less options / content even in games that do feature player top content. I can't begin to count how many projects I have seen on this site falling into the category of "A story / an adventure of a small, weak human MC and his big dominant love interest(s)". So, I can understand why top players might be doubtful about TSP: A shiny new game with good-looking art? Click --> Wait it's from the dev whose last game was made entirely for sub bottom players? Wonderful.
Again, I also don't appreciate the way they automatically assumed that the dev is going to do the same thing with this game and just jumped into conclusion (but as @Jorge San explained, he mentioned OIHS just to express that "if TSP is going to be a full player bottom game like OIHS, I'm going to avoid it", so he wishes to know right now how this game is going to turn out), but I guess you didn't really consider their perspective before you just outright started calling them "karening" "self-entitled" "whiny" and apparently "women"?? I don't know where you got pressed so hard by tops for you to need to be that hurtful, but it is in no way helping this project, and it's only doing the opposite. You'd do a better job telling them to maybe not stereotype this project by pointing it out to them, fairly, how they came off as aggressive and maybe they should try playing it first. Not sure even the dev himself would thank you for being this edgy a defender of his. Seriously, chill the f out.
As someone who also strongly prefers to play as a dom top in VNs that allow you to choose your own position I can empathize with your claim. I do feel that a very large portion of these bara / furry VNs focus heavily on the player being bottom and / or submissive, and it has been frustrating trying to find something that fits my taste.
That being said, however, as the dev has pointed out, this game and his previous project are two very different games. So maybe give it a bit of time before jumping into the conclusion that there are definitely not going to be anything you like?
