Wonderful atmosphere. I got so immersed that I didn't notice music changing at some point, and I didn't expect the story to go in the direction it did. Definitely felt frightened at the end.

I'm glad I didn't look at the screenshots, as there are some spoilers to the story there.

Immersion is a huge desire for games like this, and just as much, eliciting the emotion of fear, so I danced a jig after reading your experience. That's a valid point also; we had to throw in a horror hook in the screenshots to attract players (a good portion of visitors are coming in from Itch's free horror section in addition to Godot Wild Jam; we received a couple of video reviews on the Itch game page as a result). Thank you for playing / reviewing!

Definitely a good idea to show the most exciting parts in the screenshots / trailer. I'm just the kind of person that prefers to go in without knowing anything, both with games and movies :)

Cheers!
