Regarding the menu, I really hesitated to create it like that. As it is unusual, initially, players are a bit lost. 

A tip for menus, you can activate the mouse thanks to the [Escape] key.

Although a bit confusing at first, I'd say the menu was a nice addition. A nice surprise when you realize how it works and it's also the same controls as in game, so a bit like a tutorial for movement before the game starts.

Exactly, you got the spirit! :)  In my mind, i wanted the menus to be a true part of the gaming experience.
