Could you briefly go over the intended core loop? I've gone through a few days and tried a lot of different things and I'm not sure which things are optional things that are currently dead-end/unimplemented and which actually matter.

Ah yes, in it's current state the main way to progress the loop is through the warehouse/facility minigame, which also progresses time faster.  There was meant to be an extra way to gain energy once you exit the base, but didn't have the time to finish it for this build. Afterwards you unlock the main gameplay look by speaking with a certain someone during Day 1 to start the project. Either way, you can spend energy for some extra features by finding the right person.
