I'm glad you liked it and thanks for sticking with it for so many levels :)
The lighting mostly works with a toon shader and a light source you spin around with your mouse. We used MK toon free from the unity asset store in case you'd like to try it yourself.
Can you describe pseudo isometric controls in a little more detail please? Sounds quite interesting. (Funnily enough I personally think that the character controls work way better with a controller due to the freedom an analogue stick gives you, but we never managed to implement the light controls for the controller due to time constraints)
