Wow! I admire your vigilance. 

We did some tests in the repo before the theme was announced to test the technology. These were cleaned up on 2-Nov after which the real work has begun. You can check here:  https://github.com/olivergreening/gameoff-2023/commit/35aebd613ceeb2ae18043686cccf605a822be5e3

The correlation is that you press SPACE and the car scales up. Press SPACE again and it scales down. There really isn't anymore to it.

Going small was easy enough to win the game and because I did not got stuck I actually never used that mechanic. To be fair if I could not progress some of the obstacles if I am not big would make the game more fun. I improved my ratings.

Edit: The game also don't go full screen but this could be some perfect pixel limitation.
