Maybe there's a misunderstanding. My point is to build upon existing code, which I believe is part of the rules, or am I getting this wrong?
> Connectedly,
I know, I was there. ;-)
This brings back my Flappy Bird PTSD xD. I did run it, but it was a bit heavy - downloading all these files, perhaps a ZIP file would make more sense? This is what I used to run it:
pyton -m venv env # to download dependencies only within the game folder pip install pygame python final1.py
Congrats on your work, man!
I noticed you are using rpginabox, so perhaps it's not really any your fault at all, but the Mac exporter of the tool is too old. I don't have any other explanation right now. It seems to be a valid x86_64 application as far as I can see, but just doesn't run on any of the latest two macOS releases.
That felt more like an art project. Nevertheless, I played it through and I loved it. Great writing and I think the music works very well with the theme.
I might have found a little bug: when the dialog in the scene finishes, I tried walking left and then right to the Thought again, and I think it just started the next scene dialog. I did not walk through the door.
In the end, this is one of the entries I really enjoyed playing so far. Really good work!
Quite an original game and it's cool that I could play it on the Mac. It did take some time to get to learn the gameplay though. From afar it may look like playing Mahjong due to the detailed blocks. XD Loved the music, not sure if it was composed for the game or not, but it really adds something to the game.
In overall, very well done!
Wow, never heard of the Korge game engine - really unique choice for making this game, I very much admire that!
About the game itself, I ran the JAR file and did win, however not sure if this was the expected gameplay. I kept pressing space, but the dog never caught on me, it only moved with the cat when I pressed space. Is this how it is supposed to work? Btw, neat music tune.
In any case congrats on finishing your game.
Just gonna give you max score on everything, because I LOVE this sooo much. It has it all - a finished game, action, level design, actual puzzles. What a great entry, honestly. And you did all this with Pico-8! Real smoothly explained at the end about how Pico fits the theme.
Kudos to you and your great work!
Wow! I admire your vigilance.
We did some tests in the repo before the theme was announced to test the technology. These were cleaned up on 2-Nov after which the real work has begun. You can check here: https://github.com/olivergreening/gameoff-2023/commit/35aebd613ceeb2ae18043686cccf605a822be5e3
The correlation is that you press SPACE and the car scales up. Press SPACE again and it scales down. There really isn't anymore to it.
Thanks for playing!
