The game could actually benefit a bit from being slowed down - to make it easier to figure out the orbits and gravity and stuff. There is another gravity-based / orbital game and I think you pulled it off better. I have often speculated about "what would a gravity based shooter be like?" and now I have the answer! I'm going to give you a huge thumbs up!

During development, I throurougly enjoyed the game being hard and fast and learning to handle the spaceship & plan orbits while being in the middle of the shooting chaos. I do agree with you, it may be too difficult. I had the whole duration of the jam to learn these mechanics but new players do not.
