Okay, I finally finish all 3 chapters, and I thought that I will make a small review. I will try to keep this review spoiler-free.
I remember seeing this game a long time ago, and I was curious about it, but not being able to understand Chinese made it impossible for me to play. I was very happy when I saw that we finally got an english translation. I will cut this review into section, to make it easier to read... I will try. (Promise!)
Story : A very promising story! I don't want to say much, because I don't want to spoil anything, but... I will say that, it's been a while since I play a furry visual novel that got me this much interest in his story.
Characters : I really like the characters. Tex our protagonist is really good, and I really like visual novels where the protagonist is his own character, and not some... empty... protagonist that I'm suppose to insert myself into, because in 99% of the time it doesn't work. For the others Characters, I found all of them being very interesting, and very well written.
Something that even surprises me is that, when I first saw the Character of Mo Xia, I thought I wasn't going to like him, because... well... A bit Tsundere, and he's a perfectionist, two things... that I don't like. Tsundere because... a very common type of character that most of the time for me is just annoying to me.
Perfectionist... For more personal reason, that I do not wish to speak about, but after playing the game, and doing some of the choices to pass more time with him, I actually start to like the character more, and he even became my favorite character.
If people are curious : Mo Xia, Tex, Bai Yu, Kerlno, Chen Hu my order from my most favorite to least favorite.
I could make more wall of text to explain my feelings about each character, but... It will be very long, so... To make it short. All of them are very interesting, and very well written.
Art: Okay... The art... Is just amazing! You can fill all the love put into the game. All characters are very well drawn, the character's outfits are very good, and the CGs are very good. The use of CGs is also very good, it helps to make some scene more impactful, in some visual novels you will sometimes get like 5 to 6 CGs for a fight, and to some visual novels you get none, which doesn't help if the writing does not make it interesting.
For those who play Chapter 3... The use of CGs in this chapter made it so amazing. That you really feel like you are actually watching things playing out in front of you.
Music: Not much to say about this... It's good.
Okay, now... I want to talk about two things.
During my playthrough, I met two problems.
One : at the end of the bath scene, my game crash, and I had to play the scene again, and this time everything was fine.
Something I notice, it seems the scene is supposed to end, when the music ends, which seems to also cut off the CGs at the same time, and it may be the reason why the game crash after this, because I realize when looking at the Gallery that they were some CGs of the bath scene that I didn't saw, it could be my computer, but I also met this problem on another computer to test this out.
Two : During some scene transition, sometimes the sound will become loud, and play some sound that I could describe it as the type of sound you put in the background when you want to make the illusion of multiple people talking in the background, then the message... which I assume is saying 'auto saving' appear, and it's gone, and the sound is back to normal.
Another thing, I want to talk about which... I know some people in the comment already talk or ask about it, and it may become annoying to hear about this again, but... I want to share my opinion... Sorry.
The romance... I understand that the creator wants to focus more on an adventure story, than a romance one, and I fine with this. I love the story for his world, the characters... but... why so many scenes imply possible romance then... why we have a character in chapter 3 saying "Are you two in a relationship?".
The way I see it, is that the creator did this, because he knew that some people were going to ask for romance, and decide to do those scenes to please them, but... at the end... if it doesn't lead to anything, you can have some people being fine with it, but you can also have some people being not fine with it. If the creator doesn't want to make romance in the game, it's fine, but if he still want to it, to please the people playing this game for possible romance without impacting the Main chapters. The creator could make some sort of Extra chapters that you unlock at the end of the game on the title screen. In those Extra chapters you could make a romance with one specific character, and at the end they could be in a relationship. To unlock those extra chapters, you will... for one have to finish the game, and two had to trigger all the flags? Choices? Route? of one specific character during the game, which also will force players to replay the game, and make different choices, if they want to see those extra chapters.
Okay... This was longer that I thought... I did said "small review"... I'm sorry.
Thank you for reading this, again all of this is my personal thought, and I'm okay with people not agreeing with me. I hope this review was at least interesting, sorry if my English is not perfect as a French speaker, I can still make some mistake. Thank you for making just a very good visual novel, and I can't wait to see the rest of the story!
