are the screams sampled from It Takes Two? love the music anyways. it's a very well polished game, and have actual gameplay and fun factor to it. Really like the pixel art elements of the design, but I think the overall art direction suffers from the lack of environmental details. Just some basic pixel art tiles would lead to a more coherent look, instead of the current one. I also kinda miss some surprising factor from the gameplay, it gets a bit predictable after a few levels, some buffs or new mechanics would skyrocket this entry into a very good and fun game.
Hope you find these comments helpful, I think this game is one of the best ones in the jam. Hope you will have the chance to further develop it, as it has a very high ceiling I feel. great great job!

Hey thank you for the very helpful and detailed feedback!

The screams in the music are sampled from 'Lyn Collins - Think (About It)' and 'Reverend W.A. Donaldson & Congregation - Baptizing Scene (1959)' (a sample from Kanye West's Paris song)

And yes I definitely agree that the art direction was quite weak in this game compared to other aspects like the gameplay, music or UI. art is the part of gamedev that I struggle with most - i often find it quite hard, and not super enjoyable. I attempted background decor / furniture, but scrapped it since it didn't look great. I think spending more time on improving the game's art (and improving my art skills) is a really good idea, and I think your feedback is spot on.

I think the predictable, repetitive aspect of the gameplay is a fair point too. new obstacles or mechanics that are part of the level itself would be my main focus if I extended the scope of the game - things like water refill zones, moving obstacles or platforms, that sort of thing could be nice. I'll definitely keep your advice in mind if i further develop the game.

Thank you again for the well-written feedback, I really appreciate it!
