If a machine doesn't have a number next to the item when you're standing next to it, that means it's a dispenser and will give you the item. It's a cool puzzle-platformer but it often doesn't communicate things like this to the player.
You're right, I didn't make it clear enough. For what it's worth, I've uploaded an adjusted version with a label that makes that machine's purpose clear. Thanks for your feedback!
