I think the issue you're having is that some items require 6 items to craft, and the recipe book only shows 4 at a time, but you can scroll using the arrows to the right of the list. It's weird design on my part. The stirling engine should take 2 bricks, 1 cog, 1 glass, and 2 ovens.
