Кирка вроде бы нужна для шахтерства. Молоток и отвёртка по-моему просто декорация, но отвёртку можно забавно кидать в стены, как и пилы.
Что можешь смело продать и заработать прилично кредитов, так это огнетушители. Их куча на базе.

In the cave there is crystals, yes. Be warned though, it is randomly generated and you may never get out the way you came in... it took me easily 20 minutes to find anything to mine, and then I fell through a hole in the cave and luckily teleported back to the entrance when I hit they key to fall over... I would have never gotten out for sure if I hadn't slipped into the void
