Firstly, (whether for a gamejam or not) it was lovely to see a visual novel centering around understanding and accepting asexuality. But also, getting to know more about the world of Mythics and seeing some of the ties to the other games in the Folklore series was really cool.
I'm honestly excited to see where this story goes, and just how much of it ties into the other games (I could see the big tie-in ... besides with the Mythics themselves... when the box was brought in.)
Even as a standalone, however, this was a solid visual novel. The characters were very well written. Even King Tier, who frustrated me to no end. I actually am looking forward to his downfall, if that is at all planned.
The other characters were lovely, however. I adored all of them. Morrigan was wonderfully sassy (and beautiful, too!) and Sean is an absolute sweetheart. I'm glad that he holds strong in spite of how much the king nags about him needing a successor.
And, of course, Robert was adorable. As a grown up, he has quite an air of patience, and I am curious to see what happens in regards to him having the sea's favor. Also... he seems a bit familiar? His looks are similar to the Creature in Inside The Box. I can only guess that he has a decent part to play in this series.
Of course, the aesthetics of this game were utterly gorgeous, too. Even with some of the modern flair to the art, the way that you colored them and the outfits they wore along with the backgrounds, made it all look very much like an illustration in an old fairytale or something. And I love the entire premise of using old folklore creatures in the series that you are making. It's really cool!
The voice acting really tied it all together, too. (Though I did mute Morrigan for recording the video, I really liked her voice when I got a chance to listen to it) Both actors did an excellent job!
To sum it all up. I had a lot of fun with Bloodlines, and I was so sad with there being a cliffhanger! I'm really looking forward to more, both of this story and of the Folklore series in general.
Keep up the great work. I have a lot of fun with your visual novels!
