email sent. enjoy.

unfortunately no discord, and I'm not active on social media. if you leave your email in a comment here I'll reach out (and you can then delete the comment with your email in it).

Happy to help, thanks for playing. DM me your email and I'll send you something. Can you help me out and post a nice video review telling your viewers why you enjoy the game?

After 13 years of work and development, we're in early release of an underground indie music streaming & discovery service, the vt.

https://apt18.itch.io/the-vt

The project began as a streaming vision for how mobile entertainment channels should work to satisfy audiences and create a robust creator economy. The team and I spent years refining the service as a website and by 2018 had created something of a cash machine for the digital album format. Then I taught myself to code over the pandemic and rebuilt the service from scratch using Godot 3.5 for the front-end apps.

Along the way I've learned how to integrate Godot into AWS and get apps running for various platforms. Lots of learning.

Still early days, lots of work to do over the next few years.

If you love discovering underground indie music, you'll likely enjoy the vt and may want to apply for a free membership.

If you're a musical artist, you will find the vt is a more useful tool for you than any social media or major streaming service.

Reach out with any questions.

Hi! Circling back. The game is polished & has been released into the wild!

Free-to-play on itch (here), also a PC build available on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1887570/Dragon_Battle/). The art assets are on OpenGameArt (https://opengameart.org/content/4-color-8-bit-dragons).

Would you consider doing another stream? I'd love to see your thoughts.

Thanks for playing & hope you enjoy!

Hi Xanderwood - circling back. The game is polished & has been released into the wild!

Thx, we appreciate the kind words.

Have you been able to beat the Dragon King?

Hope you enjoy. Let us know if you beat it!

Thx for playing. Text adventures can be really hard, they aren't very intuitive from a UI perspective.

Initially, you can [verb] [noun] (aka GO EAST or TALK BARTENDER).

Once a flyte battle is initiated (aka FLYTE GUARD), the format switches to [noun] [verb] [adjective(optional)] [insult] (aka FATHER LOOKS STUPID DWARF, which the game will translate as "Thy father appeareth like a fat-kidneyed dwarf!")

Hope this helps & thanks again for playing.

Thx for the kind words. I have an updated version I'm working on to solve this and other music-related issues with the game. Learning Godot is fun.

Thou art most welcome.

Great start here, enjoyed playing and the dynamics. My only complaint is that there aren't more levels to beat! :)

Thx, glad you enjoyed!

The more you play and level up your flyte skill, the sicker thy burns become!

Thx for the kind words & giving the game a shot. Text adventures are hard for players and extremely limited in their ability (especially for a game jam coding one from scratch in a week!).

Thx for trying it out.

Text adventures are hard and extremely limited. The player input has to follow a specific format. Initially in the game it's [verb] [noun]. Once you initiate a flyte battle (aka FLYTE GUARD or FLYTE BARTENDER) then the format switches to: [noun] [verb] [adjective(optional)] [insult] (aka MOTHER SMELLS STINKY GOBLIN, which the game will return as "Thy mother smelleth like a refulgent goblin!").

I tried my best to put in enough prompts in the game so this would be intuitive for players. But again, especially for those not familiar with the genre, it can be very confusing to play until you get the format down.

Hope this helps.

Nice start here, easy to pick up and play. I failed after a bit, but can see I'll need to spend more time playing to understand the dynamics better.

The gameplay I experienced was that the background song switched when I die (main theme stops, calmer death music starts). Then when I press R the main music starts again ... but the death music is still playing.

Hope this helps.

Cute game demo & great animation / sound design.

Cool yes, much better now. I got through the level 2x, trying to jump over laser beams as an old man is incredibly difficult (esp with the screen zoomed out). Also noticed an overlapping sound issue, there seems to be 2 music tracks playing at the same time after you die and restart.

Nice work on the game.

The start to a really in-depth strategy-builder game. Will have to spend more time playing to really get the gameplay down. Incredible that you built this in a week.

Just played the update to this. Really great, especially the music & sound design. 2nd level was really hard. Good job!

Good start and I really like the concept. But the jumping and motion is too fast/crazy. Keep working on this one even beyond the jam.

Trying to download via a web browser on my laptop.

I'm getting a download error for the Mac version saying that it can't find the server, so I can't download the demo.

Really good start. I enjoyed the music and animations / storytelling.

I explored everywhere and spoke to everyone, but couldn't really figure out what to do after that.

I want to save my progress so I can come back later when I have time to play again, but can't figure out how to save (I assume when I complete the first puzzle / Friday adventure it will save ... just not sure what the first puzzle is yet. :)

Anyway, thx for building this, looking forward to playing again.

(1 edit)

very thoughtful level designs.

Oh yeah, didn't stop playing until I beat all the levels. :)

Great one! Enjoyed playing. Great music.

Good start. The Doge ran away when I took out the trash, then while chasing him I got stuck in the tree level. Jumping through the branches is very hard!

Oh my lord I love this game. Fantastic plot, great retro arcade. Smash TV clone very well done!

Sending this to my brother. Great work.

really good start. very impressive ui, did you code this all yourself?

the first obstacle -- picking up block and throwing it -- was incredibly hard. when I finally got through the first door, I got trapped when the door closed.

Keep working on this, I'd enjoy playing a finished version.

nice tunes. good work.

Great review, thx for taking the time to play. It looks like you were playing an older build, the newer version has some updates for your comments.

Have jotted down all your play test notes. We're about to dig back into the code to add more dragons to the mix and update some bugs / UI issues. Would love to circle back with a completed game for another review!

Thx again for playing.

Hi --

I had joined a game jam recently that was running this week. They had a discord server of their own but were hosting the jam via itch.

It seems to have disappeared (including the Discord server).

There's another jam I had submitted to that appears to have vanished as well.

Is this a common thing?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Private message me an email address and I'll send you a download link for the ROM file. Would love to get your feedback on the current build before we lock the code & begin building out different dragons based on this core combat experience. Can you send us photos or other market materials of you playing the game on your GB?

Do you have a GB? What are you playing games on?

We're about to push a new version live that takes away dragon hits bar and instead reveals damage to dragon. As dragon takes more hits, dmg animations/graphics get worse. Had to rebuild combat a bit to make that happen, ended up creating a bunch of new bugs that we're squashing now.

Once this is finished and we're happy with the core combat system, will start releasing new dragons into the mix to shake things up and make the game even more immersive -- not to mention build out all the dragons we'll need for The Janayana.

Anyway thx again, glad you're enjoying so far.

Keep sending playtest updates & report any bugs you find / additional comments!

No worries, it happens to be the best of us. :)

Hope you enjoy the game, most importantly.
