I have no idea to be honest. Ren'py lets you just make a mac version, and that's what I've uploaded. I truly have no idea how games work on mac, but I assume there's some way since the mac version has been downloaded thousands of times, so I'd assume that if it didn't work I'd probably get more comments about this. Do you have any issues running other AVNs on your machine? It should work basically the same as any ren'py based game.

Will do as soon as it's actually finished (After the standard patreon early access stuff.)

Game has a bunch of branching, so it takes a while.

I have no idea what causes this. My assumption would be antivirus killing it, as some antivirus programs have been known to strike down renpy games if they include certain python stuff. My game has a bunch of stuff like that, so sometimes it can happen. I'd suggest creating an exception in your antivirus software for it any trying again. No malware I promise lmao

If you send me the save file, I can try to fix this manually. With that info, it's hard to diagnose. Best way to do it is discord, though I'm rarely in there these days. I'll keep an eye out for a few days though.

So sorry man, I have absolutely no idea what causes this. D can open the developer menu if you hold shift at the same time and have the renpy developer stuff downloaded (And also you're running the game through that) but outside of that, it shouldn't do anything at all.

The majority of what you're talking about though will be in a persistent file which will be stored in, C:\Users\Yourusername\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\Stormside-whatever

Delete that file, and it should get rid of anything that persists between save files. It'll reset your gallery too, but that's better than the game not working. (Also you can fully unlock the gallery at the end of the content without needing a mod, so you're fine)

Thanks man. The entire point of the game was that for me it was hard to connect with characters in games which had good sexual content for various reasons, and also the characters I was able to connect with existed in games which in my opinion had not so great sexual content. I can't speak for the quality of the writing since I basically just write whatever feels good for me, since this game is made for me. If it turns out you like the way I'm doing it, then that's fantastic too. More to come.

Yeah so I'm definitely still working on it, as the other guy said. Long development cycle as it's been a crazy year and this isn't my full time job, but if it ever actually gets abandoned, it'll be displayed very clearly on every page over which I have control, and the patreon will be shut down. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I was was taking money to pretend to work on an updated. Next update is coming, and it's not a small one.

As far as I know, it should just work. I'm not a mac guy so I don't know the specifics, but based on the number of downloads, and lack of comments about how it doesn't work, I'd suggest it's more to do with your system than it is about the game itself. Sorry man. Maybe antivirus blocking it? That can happen with renpy games sometimes.

In fairness, it does show you this unless it bugged out. The person who texted you should have a blue tint to their bubble thing. However, I plan to make it so that the most recent texts show up at the top of the list when you go into the contacts menu, but I don't know 100% whether this will go into the coming update. I'm still working on the content at the moment rather than quality of life features. It's been like 9 months since the last update or something, so I mostly just wanna get the update released asap, but cutting corners isn't something I'd feel comfortable with.

While I'd love to just say "not currently" the actual answer is just no. Not because I have anything against female protagonists, but more just because it's not right for my game. It would require such a massive rewrite that it would basically be a totally different game at that point. As just one person it's not really something I'd have time to accomplish by myself. If someone wanted to make a female PC mod or something and make the necessary changes, sure, but I'm not planning to do anything like that myself.

Since I don't speak Chinese, I wouldn't be doing one myself. However, the next update adds translation support, so if someone wanted to make a Chinese translation, they could do that. I imagine quite a few of the jokes regarding things like Hikari and Sasha's broken English would stop making sense though.

Heh, this ended up being a much longer answer than I expected.

At the time, I was using a 7 year old 980ti which had seen pretty much daily use during those years, so I'm honestly surprised it was still working at all. It was very very unstable to the point where I'd be having the entire PC crash up to 8 times an hour (Depending on what I was doing). Somehow I managed to set up that scene without it crashing, but it was late in the day, and I figured I'd come back to it the next day or whatever. However, after that the longest I was ever able to actually have the scene loaded was about 3 minutes before it would crash. Realistically, I probably could have actually done the renders, but it would have taken like 20 times longer than normal, so instead of delaying the update I just said fuck it and drew some stick people. Another fun fact about the 980ti is that it was the original reason that there aren't a whole lot of students at the academy. Since I could have a max of like 3 characters on screen at once without it crashing, trying to populate backgrounds and things was basically impossible without photoshopping every render, so I rewrote that part of the game to make the lack of students part of the story. This is also why there are strange shadow people in the lecture hall when Kellin is introducing himself and stuff. I'd planned to fill out backgrounds with those instead of actual characters, but it turns out they're almost just as bad for performance, so I dropped the idea after that. I still need to get around to going back to rerender that bit without the random shadow people, but I'm in no huge rush on that front.

These days, due to the generous support of those enjoying the game, I have a better GPU. Specifically, it was actually just one guy who straight up bought me a new one by buying the game for some silly amount with the agreement that I'd use it to buy the GPU, so now I have a 3060 instead. This, in addition to someone else doing something similar allowing me to get 64GB of RAM, has allowed me to start sometimes filling out backgrounds with the second year girls, which a lot of people mistake as me just adding more characters because I think that's what people want. The reality of that is that they're just the background characters I would have added if I'd had a better GPU from the start, but I decided to give them a little bit of personality at least because I kinda dislike the idea of actual background characters. At very least, I felt they should have names. I also figured I might as well use them occasionally for stupid scenes that would derail the main girls' stories if I were to have them involved instead. (Like the ghost dildo thing, which would clash pretty heavily with the story of any of the main girls who aren't already aware of MC's power)

I could definitely get that MS paint scene finished now though, but given how frequently I get comments asking me not to change it, it's not very high on my priority list. HS2 is quite poorly optimised though, so I can say that whilst 8GB of VRAM would be fine most of the time, a scene with 5 or so characters might start to struggle depending on the map. It kinda depends, but either way the main point is that you could probably have a 4090 and still run into issues in HS2 a lot sooner than you'd assume based on the GPU.

That's pretty much what it means, yeah. It can generally be used the same way any generic insult is used, where it isn't usually used to actually refer to the technical meaning of the term. Kinda like calling someone an asshole is almost never a case of calling them a literal anus.

It's not as common as it used to be, but does still get used. The main reason I used it in this case is because it's very much uniquely British, and felt like a decent way of accentuating the fact that Cassie isn't American. Couldn't use twat for that, which is another go-to, since Americans apparently do say that (Albeit, more like twought rather than twat.)

I can't personally attest to the accuracy of the Russian slang usage (Which doesn't come up often), but I get help with that stuff from my Russian translator, so I'd assume it to be reasonably accurate. For Japanese (And Indonesian), it's all just google translate at the moment, but I recently got in contact with a Japanese translator, who has offered to make the Japanese that shows up in the game more organic, so the Japanese should soon be native accurate. Not so important to the actual game, but I like to get details like that right where possible.

So, I appreciate the sentiment, but please avoid rating games similar to mine 1 star based purely on some perceived notion of copying me. There are a lot of differences between my and rogue's games, despite their thematic similarity, and I don't think a comparison between them can be entirely black and white. I can't force you, but if your rating of his game is purely based on you thinking he copied mine, I'd ask that you remove it. There is no world in which his game is a true 1 star, no matter how you slice it. The clear effort alone is enough to earn more than that, even if you don't personally enjoy the story or content.

It's a game about school where you're allowed to punish the female students. That's where the similarities end. I should probably just delete this since it's straight up just misinformation, but I won't. At least not for now. I want the headmaster to do well, but I don't see how you could play both games and still think mine is a ripoff. It'd be like calling all WW2 movies a ripoff of whatever the first WW2 movie was.
*Just to edit this since I see the original post was deleted, I wasn't the one who did it.

Not currently. I hear joiplay works, but I'm unlikely to be making an official android version until I'm able to go full time. For this game, it's not as simple as just pressing the "Build android version" button, unfortunately.

Are you able to get a screenshot of one of these errors?

Yes, it just takes a while. If it ever gets abandoned, I'll be changing the description to reflect that, as well as disabling patreon and all that stuff.

Hmmmm, I don't have a way of testing it myself, but I do occasionally get people reporting issues launching the game on mac. Unfortunately, since I know next to nothing about mac, there isn't really anything I can suggest beyond the basic stuff like making sure there isn't some kind of antivirus blocking it. The only google results I get for this error seem to suggest reinstalling python can resolve this issue, but I'd be surprised to learn that python is even required for the game to run (Far as I know renpy games come packaged with everything they need). Is it possible you have some kind of incompatible version of python installed which is somehow conflicting with the game? This is pure speculation, but since I won't be able to reproduce the error myself, that might be about the best I've got.

Oh yeah, this is fixed in the next update, but for now if you get this bug you can fix it by enabling the renpy console (You can google how to do this) and then part way through the text conversation with your dad, open the console with shift+O, then run the below command (Case sensitive, enter exactly as written)

messageCount = 1

After that, close the console and continue as normal, and it should let you play.

I expect this is something to do with antivirus blocking it for whatever reason. That happens with renpy games sometimes. Assuming the download is complete, it's all in there, and I've never heard of an error regarding "Not enough information", but who knows.

Admittedly, the game is quite big for an AVN, and if you downloaded it 5 or 6 times, that must take quite a long time with itch download speeds. Are you sure it actually finishes downloading each time?

It's hard to say. I'm terrible with estimates, so the answer is basically as soon as I can get the thing finished. Next update is quite complicated, though not lacking in content for the intended "multiple playthrough" audience.

As soon as I can tbh. My issue is that I refuse to release it until it's actually ready, and I am terrible at estimating how long that'll take. The good news is it's relatively close, and for those who are in it for the sex scenes, there are like 7 new ones (I forget exactly how many). Main story people get some stuff too since this coming update goes into that a bit too.

To add on to what the other guy said, the library has a ledger which tells you who checked out each book. So the one in the ghost's cell...

One day perhaps. Not your fault if you don't have the hardware to run it, it's more my fault for not making it run on the hardware. The good news is that when there eventually is an android version, the game should also have more content, so maybe check back in a year or so :D

Ok, so I couldn't reproduce the issue with that save file, and to be honest I have no idea what could've caused this, and I probably won't be able to fix it on your end. With that in mind, I've recorded the VN version of the ghost hunt in the form of a video so that if you just wanna continue playing the game whilst still knowing what happens in the ghost hunt, you can watch this, then use the option in game to skip the ghost hunt. (The video ends shortly after the point the skip option will drop you at.)

Heh, I know the feeling. I'll take a look and see what I can do.

Yes, it's just slow progress. If it ever actually gets abandoned, that'll be reflected in the game description. I don't like to mislead people.

Not currently. It's something I'd consider trying to do if I were working full time on the game, but since for my game it would be more complicated than just pressing the "Build android version" button, it's not something I'm currently putting time into.

I get the exact same thing when I watch a youtube video and I hear any of these tracks xD

For a brief moment I'm like "HEY WAIT A MINUTE! THAT'S MY-"
And then I remember that it's royalty free music and errrr, yeah...

For real though, Kevin Macleod is in my opinion one of the most important composers in recent history. I really hope he's getting the recognition he deserves financially. There are so many things which either wouldn't exist, or would be worse without what he does. Thanks Kevin.

Yeahh, one unfortunate thing about these kinda games is there aren't all that many devs who have the money to commission their own music, so we tend to use a lot of the same royalty free music as other devs, or even youtubers. I can't say I'm familiar with down the rabbit hole or which track you're talking about, but almost all of the music I use is kevin macleod stuff. With him being perhaps the most popular royalty free composer, it definitely won't be uncommon to find music from these kinds of games included in many other things.

This is due to an unfortunate space in the filepath for that sound file. It's fixed in the next update, but for now you can just press ignore on it and the scene will play (Albeit without music)

Do you receive any errors? I would expect this is a case of antivirus blocking is, since sometimes antivirus likes to block renpy games. Pretty hard to say though without further information.

The renders are made in Honey Select 2

I'm unlikely to make one myself since I'd then have to test the game to ensure there's no visual artifacting, but since you're not the first person to ask, someone else has done it.

However, I haven't tried this version, so I can't verify its contents. I have had reports that joiplay does work though, however only when you download the latest version of joiplay from the website as opposed to an appstore, since last I heard the appstore version is out of date (Though this was some months ago now.)

If you get it working, I'd recommend choosing the VN version of the ghost hunt if and when you get to that part. I can't imagine the sandbox version would work very well on a touchscreen.

You can just press ignore on this one and it'll play the scene, except without music. It's just because I accidentally left a space in the end of the filepath. Fixed in next update.

Glad you like it, more to come :D

Regarding the collars, the game as it is at the moment lets you collar of the girls so far, but the events that let you collar them are basically final route selection. The currently collarable girls are Sasha and Riley, but unless you decided not to punish one of them, I'm unsure how you only got to collar one of them. Did you mean you only decided to collar one, or that you only got the chance to collar one?

Do you know what the error was? I may have a fix for it, but only if I know what the error says.
