Thanks for this super thoughtful comment! And your criticism is on point as well, we are talking about extending and polishing it up. After all, we do have a whole slew of unused art.

I really like the concept! And I like the difficulty curve of the increasingly larger bag. The controls are clunky. But I quite enjoyed my time playing the game regardless. It's well done!

A solid entry, do wish there was an audio slider as the game was a bit loud, but honestly a banger! Played it multiple times and Im itching for more.

The game played really nice, simple enough to grasp almost instantly, yet challenging enough to be satisfying. It had a nice level of polish and a good difficulty curve. One of the best jam entries I've played till now! It's great as is.

We did want to add options for sounds and rebindable controls, but we simply didn't have enough time. Next time we'll have that covered! Thanks for the lovely comment.

I'm very glad you feel like that! We have aired the idea of building onto this (and fixing some of the more glaring issues). Some more movement options were thought of during development, so in a rework that would definitely be something to consider. And yes, LIBERATE ALL OF THEM!

The art was charming. The combat was satisfying. I do wish you could retry the fights you lost immediately, but the game closes when you die. I enjoyed completing the game. Well done.

(1 edit)

The game felt nice to control. The audio design was nice.

The game was a bit too easy, but the movement was nice.  Could either make the pipes less open or make the smilies move faster as the game goes on.

Either way, it was a nice first project!

The art and presentation is really nice! The concept is also quite creative, and mechanically it feels polished, that being said;

The boxes shouldn't spawn within a certain radius of the lights. It does not feel fair when a box spawns (or multiple in a row (speaking from experience)) inside of a light and instantly gets disintegrated. The same goes for the boxes that spawn, only to moments later be swallowed up by the light. I do believe that with that fixed it would be a nice and enjoyable game, but for now, it's frustrating eye candy.

Thanks!

Thanks! Br0w0ken did an amazing job on the art, and Stray Cat was a nice voice actor (and mascot).

The sounds are a bit too sharp. The controls are finicky. I love the style of the game and the animations. But the background is way too noisy.

The level design at the end devolves into anti-player. Cleaning up the controls would make the experience much nicer.

Nice idea! Some sound playing when the ball bounced would make the game feel a lot more juicy.  The background was kinda nauseating, and you can get stuck in right corners. It looked nice and I love the 2d shadows!

The art is very well done, and the concept is nice.

The music gets very repetitive very quickly. I didn't really feel like I could do much to stop the survivors.

The game felt polished. Might have benefitted from some more balancing.

It feels quite janky, it's hard to tell if the knight is responding to what you're doing, it could possibly be helped with switching the weapon as soon as you do, instead of when he's ready to attack.

It was also unclear to me that all of the skeletons were going to attack, whereas I thought it was just the front-most monster.

Furthermore, I thought the potion was a one-time use item, so I was quite confused when the hero kept chugging all the potions whilst having their weapon out.

The idea is nice, and it's a fun twist on the turn-based combat genre. The art also fits the game well, I particularly liked that the main menu was a book, considering the title.

Art was one of the strong suits, the big units felt underwhelming. Overall, it's the game I've enjoyed the most so far.

It's a nice concept but would do better with a longer run time. The "Survival Mode" at the end was a nice idea but fell a bit short due to being able to quite easily being able to trap the player between the blocks.
I could see myself playing a longer version of this if it had some proper levels!

Thanks for the kind words! And I have to agree, Br0w0ken did an amazing job on the art.

Would improve a lot with varying pipe lengths, and/or a more complex movement pattern for the Bird. But it's a fine game for a jam!

I used the downloaded version, yea, I can understand you :)
