Thanks ^-^. There's some good sfx packs out there, I used a combination of an 8-bit asset pack, bfxr and Audacity. Bfxr is free and you can generate some nice effects: https://www.bfxr.net/

Thanks for playing! Although it's not far in development I'm glad it gave a feel for what the game might be like, at least visually. Hopefully the next iteration will include smoother platforming, better graphics and combat mechanics ^-^.

Great little game you got so far, played through to the end. Only gripe is it took me a few minutes to realise I could wall jump by hugging the wall and pressing the jump key haha. Otherwise great job :).

Thanks! Whoops coyote timing was on my to-do list but completely slipped my mind. A lot of things will be changing post-jam, but that will be the first thing I'll add :).

Thanks for playing! Keeping things simple as this is my first game in Construct but learning a lot as I go, power-ups are a great idea, I'll experiment with that for the next update :D.

Very charming little game, graphics and audio were nice too. Felt good to smash some skulls in with the bat pickup :).

Charming short game, loved it!

Thanks for playing. Plan on adding more to the game once the jam voting period is over, elevation changes sound like a great idea :D.

Very charming, loved the effects and style! Only thing is I would have had the monsters go after the villagers while your protect them. Great work :).

It's actually beatable but takes skill and quite a bit of luck, I think you win if you survive 4 minutes. I'll be sure to add death screen to the post-jam version, thanks for the input!

It's actually beatable but it takes a bit of luck and skill, hoping to add a lot of variety in the post-jam version though :).

Thanks, kept it simple as I've only started learning the engine :).

Love the atmosphere, definitely made it feel more spooky. Took a while but once I finally figured out the code it was satisfying. Nice work :).

Fun little game, player gets stuck in the ground at times which makes it a little harder than it should be but otherwise good job :).

Thanks for playing and the helpful feedback. I'll implement some if not all of these features in the post-jam version!

I'll be sure to give your game a play before I rate it :).

Thanks! That actually was an idea but wasn't sure how to implement it in time, I'll be adding that mechanic to the post-jam version.

Thanks, I'll add that to the post-jam version ^-^.

Whoops didn't think about that, I'll add WASD to the post-jam version.

Thanks for the feedback ^-^. The movement engine was kind of rushed since I focused more on the art and only had 3 days. I'll keep that in mind next time I make a top down action adventure game(I love making these so probably a future game jam hehe).

Thanks for the feedback ^-^. It was a bit rushed since I only had 3 days in total to work on it, focused on the aesthetics before anything else then ran into bugs that came with the latest Game Maker Studio haha. Glad you enjoyed what was there, I do plan on making a larger game similar to this eventually though :).

Oof haha, I can see the finger gun motion now. Was going to add shield/buckler to the other arm but ran out of time since was so busy the final week lol. Glad you enjoyed what was there ^-^.

Thanks :), I love the Wonderboy series so was going for that style actually!

Fun little game, enjoyed making it to the end of the map :).

Thanks so much for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it! Must admit I rushed things as I joined late then spent time fixing bugs and balancing gameplay, potions were a last minute addition it was harder before that haha. I'll be sure to take your extremely helpful advice into account and implement them into my next game of this kind.

Thanks! I would have added more but spent the last day fixing bugs haha.
PS: Checked out your game and rated, nice work!

Simple but quite fun and love the different palettes. Great work!

(1 edit)

Glad you enjoyed it, I'm heavily inspired by the 8/16-bit console games! Had limited time to get things done since I joined late and also had to work towards the end haha. Thanks I'll keep that in mind for my next jam :).
