Not that it makes a real difference, I am hoping to make/submit a fishblade game for this jam; but I was wondering, are there prizes for first, second and third places? Again, not that it really matters, just curious.

Great graphics! Short game, but fun. I really enjoyed throwing everything around. I am going to be playing this game when I get mad or frustrated (just to throw stuff around! LOL!) But seriously, the door knocking sound was really good! I felt like it was my front door being pounded on! I completed the game correctly the first time and I played it again to see what happened at the other door and I got the white head. I guess that was the wrong door. Nice that you put two different endings into the game for the player. Not too scary, but enjoyable none the less. Good job!
I wanted to like the game but I got killed so quickly and so often. After reading others reviews I see there is a running option. I didn't know that. Maybe that would make the game better on my next play. But I got frustrated because I kept getting killed before I could even explore enough to figure out what is going on. Maybe dial back the speed at which the ghost gets you. I died so often and quickly the game wasn't that enjoyable. I did like the sound FX and the concept (finding keys and the way out) but just got killed way to much for it to be fun. Hope you will tweak it for the next release.
Thanks for the hint! It got me going. It still took a little bit of time to figure things out but I eventually made my way upstairs(?). And then down to the basement. Quite the psychedelic trip downstairs! And who knew the crazy scientist was (gasp!) Tony Stark! LOL! Good job! Lots of red herrings too (like the garage, what's that all about??? There's nothing of use there.) Overall, pretty cool game! Oh, and did I miss something? I only found 4 of the 5 items and I was still able to beat the game. I have no idea what the DVD was for. I assume the gold coin got me upstairs and/or downstairs. Just curious.
Pretty good concept. It reminded me of a Blair Witch kind of thing. I found three of the papers and what I assume to be the "exit" (the place with the rocks with runes on them, not the ones stalking you). But I couldn't find the 4th paper. I looked for a good 30 minutes but kept finding the things that had the other papers. Maybe making it a little easier to find all the papers would be my only suggestion. And maybe have the character move a little bit faster. Over all, pretty good game!
I like "maze" games but I had a hard time with this one. I like the atmosphere that you created (especially with the fog) but a few points of constructive criticism. With it being so dark and foggy it's hard to tell when you are walking and not. I could still hear foot steps while I was walking into a wall (technically not going anywhere) that was confusing (because I hear myself walking but I'm not going anywhere.) And I tried running and it felt the same as walking and the footstep noise sounded the same so I couldn't tell when I was running or not. In all fairness I might have been accidentally holding down the CAPS LOCK key and not the SHIFT key. The flashlight didn't seem to do much for lighting up the environment in general. I found it useless and basically walked around without it. I ended up finding the door before I even found the first crystal. When I did find a crystal I wasn't able to pick it up (I assume with the "E" button). So I am not sure what I am supposed to do when I find a crystal. Also, the AI is a little wonky. She would find and kill me randomly but yet I could walk right by her several times and nothing would happen. Shouldn't she be killing me? Lastly, I LIKED the use of red colors. It let you know when the enemy was near. I also liked that it reflected off of the flashlight when she was near too. That was a nice touch. I am sorry if I sounded too critical, and I do realize this is a game jam with a 10 day limit. Overall you have a really good game! I hope you continue to tweak it and make it even better.
Really intriguing game but I couldn't even get inside the house. I really wanted to try this one out but just couldn't figure out how to get inside. Also, not sure if I am just supposed to press "O" and something opens or do I need to press another button or click the mouse. Give us a hint to get the ball rolling. I would love to give this game another try.
Great game! I love these "maze" types of games! I loved the start of the maze where the exit just kind of disappears (or maybe I just got turned around LOL!) Anyhow, great atmosphere and sound effects. I would like to have seen what was making the noises (for scare effect) especially the thing at the end which causes you to run. Maybe there was something to look at but in all fairness I didn't turn around I just too the freak off and ran! LOL! Great job. Keep going with this idea and make something a little bigger and more scary!
A lot of things to explore! The largest game I have played yet. Your sound design was EXCELLENT! I felt like I had flies flying around me! The story isn't that clear (mainly because I didn't read the note in the wagon. I didn't realize there was a note in the wagon, or the gun). I kept finding bullets but no gun! It wasn't till I died and started over that I understood more of what to do. Over all pretty good game!
Great graphics and atmosphere! The sounds were really well done. My little laptop was struggling to keep up as I played so it was laggy for me. But still had fun playing. I didn't even know there was a monster or anything else in the game because I never encountered anything while searching for and repairing the boxes. So for me it was just walking around and repairing boxes and then I won. Felt kind of cheated. I was waiting for a jump scare or something and nothing ever happened. Never saw a gun either. I was like, "Who are 'they' and who cares if they hear me... apparently this island is deserted." It wasn't till I read other reviews that I realized there was more to the game than what I experienced. Maybe alter the game play so the player has more interaction with the monster. Because I never saw one. Really liked the red "dots" directing me were to go so I didn't wander around aimlessly and quit out of frustration. Overall good job!
This is the best game I played so far! Your graphics are AMAZING!!! The sound design and atmosphere were excellent! My only complaint, the controls weren't that intuitive. I don't play games that often and I didn't know what to do. It wasn't until I hit the ESC key that the controls/directions came up and I could figure out how to use the camera, flashlight, etc. Other than that great game!!
Good atmosphere and sound. The wall graphics have some issues (probably overlapping textures creating a glitch type of thing). The directions need to be up a few seconds longer to allow the player to read them. And the scare about gave me a heart attack the first time. Well done! The "T-pose" made me laugh though!
pretty cool game! I really liked the atmosphere look and feel and the sounds were great. Good job! I am a little confused as to what I am supposed to do. I found two logs notes and I know I need fuel but can't figure out what to do beyond that. The controls were a bit wonky for me (windows). I eventually figured it out with the used of the mouse and WASD. Also, wish the light on the character was a bit different. When he is walking and I look at him from the front or sideways I can't see the light illuminating anything. Overall, good job!
I think I understand now what you were asking, character doesn't change anything. The story is the same for every character.
The only difference is, If you choose a male character and you live through the night you will hear a woman being killed. If you are going to be killed (male character) you should hear a man being killed during the night sequence. That's the only real difference in characters.
Thank you for playing my game and commenting!
Each character has an equal chance of winning and losing. The results are completely random. The player can die during any night sequence (even during the first night, although it is rare) Your chances of winning the game are 50/50. Just like real life, either you live or you die.
The actual percentages for this game are: you have a 10% chance of dying the first night, a 33% chance the second night and 50% chance the third night.
Hello. I submitted my game which I thought was working perfectly. I uploaded it to my physical phone and it crashed during the character selection screen. I fixed it and reuploaded the new working version to my project (from my dashboard page on itch.io). Do I need to resubmit the fixed version to the Scream Jam too or will the corrected version I uploaded to my project page take care of that?
Thanks in advance!
