Thank you! I'm glad you think so.

About the guitar and bass tracks:

- On the electric bass parts I have recorder with a MESA Subway preamp without speaker IR impulse  (I find it easy and good sounding when I try something with it).

- Electric guitars on the boss theme are all recorded from a valve 100w amp (ENGL SE) into the interface preamp. I've noticed that at least for me sounds nice. It's a no brainer. But I don't discard to use emulations. On the theme track there's a Morgan amp in VST format that delivers a nice clean in my opinion. Nowadays there's plenty of software that does guitar recording fine!

From start to finish I love it. Excellent music!!

"Dark Ceremony" catch my ears from the first note. Reminds music that I enjoyed a lot, like Samurai Shodown main theme or even Nioh menu screen.

"Escape To Reality" it's very expressive and the orchestra with the piano drawing fast background lines reach the Ghensin Impact mood and atmosphere really, really well.

I really enjoyed the calm and catchy theme all along the OST.

Sounds beautiful and charming.

Great job and great story!

Hi everyone! I'm searching for a team in the roles of sound designer/composer. Actually I'm working with the same team which I compose an OST for a survival horror game (released on all major platforms, but It didn't take me more than 2 years).

So I have experience as composer (less than 2 years) but haven't been strongly in the role of sound designer. I know the basis of FMOD , but if it's needed I'm willing to learn more and more.

I'm flexible and cooperative. I accept good critiques and feedback. I think I'm quick and efficient recording music and I'm kind with myself and with the others.

At this moment I'm focused on survival horror, 2d RPG (Imagine Black Salis mixied with pirates of the Caribbean music with a touch of Monkey Island) and 2d space opera themed metroidvania (in the style of the last Dune films, Mandalorian and some Star Wars music stuff).

Although I'm not jack of all trades I think I can create music in many styles properly.

I live in Spain so my english is not totally fluent. Sorry for that.

I also link my soundcloud here as a example/show/portfolio of works.

Have a nice day!

I'm glad to see you did the OST. Cheers, and good luck with the game!

Hi everyone! I've just updated a classic survival horror music asset pack including some new content.

https://blacklightsound.itch.io/classic-survival-horror

Version 1.1.0(current)

Released: Feb 9, 2024

- Include 10 additional looped tracks inspired by classic survival horror well-known game soundtracks.

- 18 total tracks.

- 30 minutes and 52 seconds of additional music (48 minutes and 6 seconds total).

A demo reel of the previous version:

A demo reel of the update:

Hi, Jonathan. The ambiance is not really hard to replicate. It's a low drone and there is a lot of stuff which make things easier in order to achieve results.

However, making the chase involves more resources, knowledge and a bit of musical theory (accents, complex, arpeggios over modes, inversions, and so on).

In my opinion is better to let a composer approach the soundtrack than try to do yourself all the sound job from scratch. At the end he or she will have the tools, equipment and the experience in that specific field.  I think there's plenty of musicians in the community which can help you.

Cheers!

Hi, DioShiva! Thanks a lot for your feedback. I'm glad you like the music.

I've some music posted on SoundCloud. You can listen it from the individual music packs websites. (Don't post links here cause I'm writing from the smartphone and it's a pain. I can provide them if you don't reach the music anyway).

I barely use Bandcamp, maybe that's something to have in mind.

I'm planning to add another pack of fantasy music to the bundle when I return to the studio from my holidays.

I don't want to complain to much about it but it's not cheap to maintain the tools. There's a lot of monthly subscriptions for libraries and plugins, analog and expensive hardware, real acoustic instruments and mics, preamps, a computer that let me to operate quickly, also some gear and instruments needs maintenance from time to time. Too much to pay for do it legally and few responses to the music.

So many thanks for show your interest on the music. Publishing is sometimes like sending a message in a bottle through a vast ocean.

I suppose that many people feels the same way.

Cheers!

I release this bundle with with a huge collection of tracks.

It covers from cyperpunk to horror and from JPRG to 8-16 bits chiptunes.

Each pack includes at least 10 tracks carefullly crafted and looped (with a duration between 2 and 4 minutes each, with some exceptions).

The price of the full bundle is 10$. You can also buy separate packs with a 60% discount. All funds will go to integrate new tools in the recording studio in order to keep making music.

Thanks for keep and eye on it. https://itch.io/s/99503/past-and-future-music

I also loved spitfire. For me  it sounds great.

In case of chiptune there are free options if you make music on windows.

Some kontakt libraries also for chiptune:

And also plogue has really great VST's (paid)

An alternative with plogue VST sforzando (free) is download soundfonts for using it into the soundfont sampler. But take care of some copyright issues.

Awesome, Laura! About that track (Heart of Darkness) I have a video showing the process creating it. Very poor quality of the video but, once edited,  enough to make an idea of the workflow.

If you need more music for that future visual novel in the style of Heart Of Darkness stuff I'll be glad to collaborate with the music. I've seen that you have passion for the genre and I'm also talk Spanish.

Cheers!

Hi! I have published today a survival horror music pack inspired on classics of the genre.

https://blacklightsound.itch.io/classic-survival-horror

This asset includes 8 survival horror tracks that loops seamlessly.

Each track has a duration of 2 minutes aproximately.

The audio file format is .WAV 44.1kHz 24 bit depth so you can convert the file from high-quality to any that fits your needs.

The style is inspired on classic survival horror games. Although each track has a bit of ambient feeling they also have some emotive musical ideas in order to make the player experience immersive and memorable.

You can separate audio tracks and remove the voice of the singer with moises.ai. The web or the app does the job pretty decent.ly

But I have no doubt you have to record again the singer in the destination language. The task you describe is very, very complex for any computer, algorithm, IA or whatever. Maybe in the future ... but nowadays I haven't heard about nothing similar.

Hi! As Slimepunk said it depends of how far you are willing to go.

For free there's a piano from soundpaint and a couple of free instruments too...

You have to install the sampler first and then the download manager.

https://soundpaint.com/collections/free-instruments

Spitfire Audio has LABS also have a great sounding collection of free instruments.

https://labs.spitfireaudio.com/?sortBy=prod_products_labs_popular

It'll be awesome if you tell what kind of music are you producing because libraries and VST's are not the same if you make survival horror music, orchestral or chiptune.

Cheers!

Hi! I've updated the itch.io page. Now there's a new preview video and a playlist inside the itch.io store where you can't preview all the tracks.

That's perfect to give you an exact view of what's inside the soundtrack.

Have a nice week!

Hi there!

I'll be recording RPG music in the style of Bravely Default, Zelda, Children of Light, Octopath Traveller and so on.

I want to create an affordable and huge music compilation in the spare time I have composing and creating audio for INANIMA, Augurium and other projects I'm in.

At this moment there are 20 original tracks. Here is the link.

Hello to the community!

I'm working on some projects nowadays. But It also please me to have a spare time for recording other kind of things or to rethink material into new one.

That's the case of the soundtrack pack that I bring to itch.io.

It's recorded taking care of what classic sound is about but with some modern approach.

First of all, it isn't recorder on a usual tracker. I use trackers at this moment only for projects that involves retro machines and have to export the sequences into assembly code or particular file type archives required by the hardware.

The software that I've used for the tracks is Cubase 10 Pro. Very happy with it. Lots of MIDI capabilities and the option to sculpt the sound a little bit before mastering.

Inside Cubase I use mainly plugs by KORG, PlogueAudio (Chipsounds) that faithfully recreates the sound of a lot of chip sounds (from Arcade to home classic consoles or retrocomputers, huge palette of sounds) and the absolutelly brilliant RYM2612 which let's you even extract the instruments of the original tracks of the Genesis/Megadrive tracks and make use of them with very little effort.

I use some digital artifacts to increase the strengh of the sonic quality and experiment a little bit. Not too much in most cases to preserve that original, crunchy and gritty sound, nothing but give more impact to the final result and detail the sound sculpting it a little more, or driven it up in other cases.

Once the tracks are done and rendered and I'm sure that loops seamlessly I make a last step mastering them to get an homogeneus and prepare it to use inside a game with the certainty that there's no gaps between tracks (it's a step further from simply normalizing and balancing the volume of the tracks).

My best ally for this task is Wabelab Elements 10, which have all the needed tools and even more to improve the sound and polish it into more musical results.

Now, let's talk about the style and intention of the soundtrack.

My first goal is to deliver tracks with different mod that can be used easy on a Game Jam or project. I'm in the search of a variety of moods, melodys that fits in diferent thematical games or genres (platforms, action side-scrolling, RPG, Casual games, Cutscences, and so on...)

Also, I've paid attention to make a non exclusive use of one chip or kind of sound. So the sonic palette is wider. In some tracks I combine the chip stems tracks with more modern sound libraries resulting on several tracks that I can define as 8 & 16 bits on steroids. More powerful and suitable for current projects.

I have another thing in mind. Not to think of the soundtrack as something finished. I refer I want to expand it. At this moment there are 14 tracks. I want the number of tracks to grow to fill more developer needs.

So I invite you all to make suggestions on the comments about new tracks to record and include in the pack with the next free updates.
