i only barely made it, but i sure made it!! i think i'll play through some of the other submissions along with my cowriter this weekend and see what kinds of cool things everyone else made!

there are a LOT of things that ended up very different from my initial draft for the game, but i think it actually made the game a lot stronger emotionally, even if i lost out on some of the symmetry i had planned for. it's been a long time since i wrote something by myself instead of as the game of literary tennis that roleplaying is, so having people to consult on the plot details is probably the one thing that saved me from flunking out.

now if only i had the time to make a cover illustration during the jam... or the energy to do it now. post-jam burnout is REAL and its PAINFUL. i think i'll make some sort of "graphic design is my passion" tier image at the very least until i can figure something else out. hopefully by the time i make the full release theres going to be something to catch the eye of a potential player :D

the lack of a cover image is because i forgot to make one in preparation! oops

while i'm not sure if i can finish my project in time for the jam even with the extension, i'm glad for the extension regardless because i got some extra time to work on my project! if i release it after the jam ends, would it still be fine for me to mention the jam in the description (as in "Intended for the Queer Vampire Jam, which I missed the deadline of")?

just started playing this as i am procrastinating working on my own project for a game jam, and i'll have to say, the first screen of text gave me a massive fright!! (will update this comment once i finish the game!)

in the words of mario jumpman mario;

YAHOO!! YIPPEE!! LETS A GO!

hi! i know this is a vampire focused jam, but would it be acceptable for other types of monsters to show up as side characters, as long as the focus was on the theme of vampires?

(1 edit)

i did not expect to sob a little while listening to the song that has gotten me through every single abitti-exam this far.

there's just something so real about kids talking about heavy stuff in games like this, it really was just like a playground but online. it was a different time that i now really miss

the detail at the end about the flowers REALLY got to me.

A point and click game where you solve simple puzzles to find presents for friends you will meet someday in the past or future.

The game has 4* stages, all of which have been laid out, and all of which are based off of places the developer (me, lol) has visited. Sadly I cannot go take photographs of the places to use for reference, so everything is just weird doodles based on hazy memories.

Today I will set up the stages. By that I mean I will make rooms for the stages and make them connect with each other. Just some empty-ish rooms with doorways and such. It's hard to describe things, y'know.

Heyo! Time to introduce myself here real quick!

1. My name is Joni, and I am known for being able to talk for 30 minutes in a row without feeling out of breath or words, rocking in Medieval Mode in TF2, and coming up with a ton of ideas for.. Things! I have made creative things on computers since I was like. 9!

2. I have been homebound because of an injury, so I wanted to do something to fill my time with that can help me finish my future projects.

3. My current favourite games are Team Fortress 2 and Stardew Valley! These two games have not influenced my gamemaking aspirations, though. My first inspiration for making a game was Yume Nikki, and I started thinking up a project that was a fangame to it, made in RPG Maker, but then I played Hiveswap and Sally face and desided, you know what? Point and click  or  sidescroller  is probably a better way to execute my idea! So now I am making a point and click spooky game using GameMaker Studio 2! (Funny story about that: I just bought a 1 year subscription to the basic desktop version like. A day before I found out the proper no subscriptions needed version was on sale on Steam. I contacted support for a refund so I could get it on the sale, and I thought they did not reply. Then after the sale was over, I went to tinker with GM2 and found I didn't have a subscription. They really did refund me and I did not notice! I should turn on notifications for Gmail.)

4. I mostly have just messed around with RPG Maker and GM2, but never made anything that isnt just a few rooms to test the code and stuff. I have a little test of my big game project in RPG Maker, and it is just the player characters room, a long hallway, and a balcony. It looked bad, and that made me rethink what kind of game it should be.

5. If you want to hear me rant about my passions, you will be here all day. Just know that I could talk endlessly about the Team Fortress 2 mercenaries. Give me a mercenary, I will talk to you about them.

6. Make something fun and functional! Not a long game, but like. A short and fun thing!!!! With cute colors!!!!
