Might've helped me conceptualize what romance even is

I am aware of other graphical glitches and aim to get out another release within the week.

Hope you're doing alright

The Linux build demands libcrypto.so.1.0.0 and libssl.so.1.0.0, which are no longer provided standard in the latest Ubuntu. I was able to make Village Monsters run by grabbing those libraries from elsewhere and putting them in the same directory as the executable.

Heads up that the x64 build for Linux is broken, but I can launch the x86 one by hand, and that works fine.

I'd like to report a crash on Linux, but can't really tell what caused it. Are there log files or dumps or something I could send you?

Stylin'.

I'm playing with an Xbox controller and the pause button doesn't seem to work? I'd also like to use the d-pad.

Not on Discord, but there is a forum for LiSE

As always, you can install LiSE using Python's packaging system:

`python3 -m pip install LiSE ELiDE`

Heads up, the Linux build worked til recently, but now that my distro doesn't ship a version 1.0 of libcrypto anymore,  I get

./VillageMonsters: error while loading shared libraries: libcrypto.so.1.0.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

This seems like the sort of library you might want to bundle with the release?

Thanks for making this game!

Never mind, my goof

Thanks

When I press ESC, this happens

Linux version 5.11.0-38-generic #42~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Tue Sep 28 20:41:07 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

It's Linux Mint with the Cinnamon desktop, if that matters...

Playing on Linux. I've tried both of the versions on itch.

I can save and load now, but when I load a game, it stays paused forever. Clicking the time control widgets makes them beep and otherwise do nothing.

I played the game back when it was first released for Linux. Just came back to it and found that saving and loading were broken -- it would always put me back at the beginning of the scenario.

Fixed (kind of) by rm -rf ~/.config/quietsleep

I figured it out

mv -f (steam library)/steamapps/common/Wildermyth/players (itch library)/wildermyth/

Oh, one question though

If I want to move my save over from the Steam version, where do I put it?

Not repeatable at all. It launches properly now.

Probably just needed a reboot. Sorry for the bother

Looks like something's wrong with the Linux build. Traceback here

The hierarchical structure of the notes reminds me a lot of what org-mode does, so it would be neat to be able to use that syntax. Along with some features like tables perhaps?

If you have ideas for a Maxis-like game, we might be able to make something cool together. I'm clayot#3253 on Discord

I have an experimental engine for games similar to the ones Maxis was making in the 90s. I'd like to implement a game with it, something SimEarth-like would be appropriate, but I'm not a designer. If you've got an appropriate design I'll implement it.

Here's an example of what the engine does: https://github.com/LogicalDash/LiSE/#getting-started

how're you holding up?

lmk if you need a playtester

seems not to be an issue in 2.0, thanks!

Works for me on Mint 20!

Worthy successor to Waking Mars coming. Hot jams too.

This did work! Other HTML5 games can be installed via app, so I don't know what's going on here -- the app makes it look like there aren't any builds of Felicity. Maybe you need to specify that it's an HTML5 game, somehow?

Thanks for the follow! My engine lacks major features at the moment, but if you'd like to try it out, I'm eager to help.

I tried launching Felicity in the itch app and it seems not to work...

On Linux I'm having an issue where I can only turn so far in a given direction before my view snaps the other way unprompted. The weird thing is how inconsistent it is -- sometimes I can turn in three circles before it happens, other times not even half a turn. I think it may have to do with mouse acceleration??

On Linux, even though the mouse is locked to the game window, there's still a limit to how far I can turn in either direction. Very distracting.

There's a warning for photosensitive epilepsy that says to "immediately stop playing" and then the logo that you see right after that has flashing colors. You should probably be a little more specific at least, like, "press alt+F4 now". But really, a prompt for "continue?" would be conscientious

Next year -- and I hope there is one next year! -- I'd like the games to all have controller support, so that I can play with a real ps1 controller.

As for other operating system support... perhaps just test to make sure the games run under WINE? Unity games usually do...

I am playing with an 8bitdo SN30 Pro, which has the same button labels as a Super Nintendo controller, incidentally also those of the Switch.

It can emulate an Xbox 360 controller, and therefore works just fine with the game, but the graphics for the buttons don't match what I have to press.

It's not that big a deal really, but would you mind adding the graphics for Switch buttons?
