Thanks for the feedback.

I think the auction and secret advancement work best in games where the players are on the same team but have rivalries. So there's always a tension over who is actually the best, but also an opportunity to specialize elsewhere (if for example two players are bidding up on "fighting").

I'm not sure myself if I love it or hate it, so I included rules for no auction and open advancement as well.

This is one of the games I'm most excited to play, but at the same time the "push your luck" mechanic could leave a player sitting out the rest of the game which is a worry.

But, it's a short game so maybe short enough not to matter.

I tried to make the random encounter enemies one-shot killable if you use the element they are weak against, but yes there are too many (even though it's the default rate of MV maps). You're not the only one to dislike seeing a game over after the end credits, so I'll do something different next time.

Short and sweet game about kids in the woods. I didn't run into any bugs in the V4 update, just some mapping issues. I liked the subtle use of the theme.

I was trying to "show not tell" by having you learn attack and wind attack from enemies during the opening of the game. If you inspected the bridge without having an ice ability, you'd get a short conversation that hints you need to learn an ice ability.

The time limit of the event means I didn't really get to playtest other than making sure stuff worked. Glad you enjoyed the game after figuring out what you needed to do next :)

I liked the darkness power mechanics, would be good for Olaf's post-combat speeches to react to it.

The download / web play is missing from the game page

you need shock attack, if you missed it, you can also learn it from street sweepers (map encounter in the paved areas). If you have it, zap the control panel

I have made a small update to add an item "Lure" to summon map encounters. This is obtained from the man who gives advice on enemy types. Using this item reduces grind / rng factor of getting the encounter you need.

Also made the game playable in browser and reduced the download size a bit by using compressed music files.

The updated zip / tarball are the new version, I have left the original submissions up until the end of the jam if you prefer to rate the game in its original form.

I made a design mistake using map encounters for this. The encounters needed for progression are in regions 1 and 4 (and robbing the pharmacy or street sweepers in region 2 gives the third skill)

This battle system is interesting and has potential, though most of the enemies wouldn't move from their spot unless a player was in attack range. I guess this is just running out of time in the jam and it would work better with more development on the enemy turn decisions.

I'm giving a 5 in gameplay because it's impressive to get this far in 3 days, even though it needs work to be more fun.

The curtain blocking the bottom of the second room breaks after a number of times back and forth.
