Nation replacements won't occur during the game. Sweden is an optional nation that can be activated or deactivated in the settings

You'd have to check Periods.c and ships_init.c but I don't know anything more specific because I don't play NH that much. If the Surprise is a quest-only ship it should be only permanently for sale from Vanderdecken, but never appear in random encounters.

I don't think that you can easily change the date in a file during a playthrough, you can only skip time through the console. But then again, the world won't dynamically change

It would be very helpful if you could join the PA discord so Mirsaneli (the author of MNH) can help you figure it out. Kinda difficult to do it like this

presumably you have either started with the POTC storyline or have accepted that questline in freeplay. If you play the standard Hawk storyline, I doubt you will become a skeleton at night

Nope, POTC (on which MNH is based) had a completely different map with completely different towns that wasn't true to the real Caribbean. Mirsaneli redid the map to resemble the Caribbean at least but the towns that weren't there in POTC and New Horizons aren't there in MNH either.

you have to click on the individual things like the ship or character picture to bring up more options. There are a ton of different things to choose from. What you did is basically clicking through the individual storylines there are (which are quite a few + individual prologues for some characters in freeplay). You can check out the wiki for quest walkthroughs and other stuff here: https://www.piratesahoy.net/wiki/new-horizons/

yeah, thata's the latest update but you can just download it from here: https://chezjfrey.itch.io/gentlemen-of-fortune-maelstrom-engine

It will automatically download the latest version and as long as you are logged in you won't see the buy button but rather the download button on the top of the screen. There is no need to buy it again as all updates are included.

yeah, it's the same Maelstrom engine as the one you use for ERAS or all the other games. Just make sure to update your Maelstrom engine install to the latest version.

New Horizons is definitely worth checking out. It is based on POTC but it's just as standalone like the rest of the games (you need the Maelstrom engine but that's it). To install it you need to buy the Maelstrom engine and link the Maelstrom engine to the game. There is a great tutorial on Youtube on how to do it, just search for "Maelstrom Engine installation guide".

Quite a few islands have been added compared to the original POTC and the map is much larger but in terms of nations there are still the four standard ones + Pirates and Sweden (if you activate it in the settings). But only the four standard ones and Pirates have settlements.

Hope this info helps.

Hi there, I will post the list here so everybody can see it because this question pops up all the time:

Buccaneers of the Caribe = Pirates of the Caribbean 2003 vanilla game on Maelstrom engine (kinda broken, not recommended)

Caribe Stories = Caribbean Tales 2006 vanilla game on Maeltstrom engine (works great, much recommended because it has fixed all the stability issues of the original)

Caribe Stories Historical Immersion = Historically accurate mod for Caribbean Tales from 2006. Brings jungles to the game and also a lot of other historically accurate stuff

Lost Ships City = City of the Abandoned Ships 2009 vanilla game on Maelstrom engine (works great, much recommended because of fixed stability issues of the original)

GOF 1.2 = The biggest mod in the English community for COAS, includes new characters, ships and items

ERAS 2 = Based on GOF 1.2 and is a historical accurate adaptation of GOF 1.2 but much was implemented into it afterwards

GOF 2.0 = A not historical accurate version of GOF that was a bit stripped down compared to GOF 1.2 in terms of additions to the game

GOF 2.5 = An improved version of GOF 2.5 but most say that it brought more problems than it solved, so not as beloved my the community

New Horizons = most up-to-date game on Maelstrom, probably the richest overall mod/game from the list, includes the original POTC from 2003 and so much more, including new storylines, items, ships, characters and will soon feature the biggest map of all games since it's still actively developed. New storylines only available in the Russian community will also be implemented later this year

I hope this explains everything, I will edit the post of there is something unclear or you need further information.

I can also recommend downloading the torrent directly via the piratehorizons.com website, that one works.

Awesome, thanks a lot!

It's the Flying Dutchman that you receive right from the beginning when you start a game with William Turner as your character. I don't think I can upload save files directly to this community hub, I have uploaded it to the following dropbox folder (hope the link doesn't get removed):

Hi!

I have noticed that quite often when I start the boarding process, the boarding deck is just plain missing and only the sea is visible. In such a case, I can neither move nor do anything else, except for reverting to an older save.
