Thank you for the helpful criticism! Hopefully we can get around to fixing these issues at some point to make the game more enjoyable. We made Wickborne in 4 days, and of course with all game jams there are issues and things we didn't have time to add/improve. Glad you liked the game and hopefully we can incorporate your feedback!

Thanks! You gotta start somewhere. My first game jam I did, I ended up not even submitting since I was so embarrassed/disappointed with what I had made, it wasn't even a playable game. Keep up the good work! :)

Unfortunately this area is impossible. During the jam we hadn't realized this mistake until it was too late. Will look into it in the future potentially. Thanks for playing! :)

You did a cool job with the environment and lighting. I was NOT expecting the first jumpscare and it scared the crap out of me lol. Feedback wise, I would either turn off and greatly lower the motion blur, it seemed really extreme even when slightly turning my head. Great job though! :)

While the controls I think were slightly on the wrong axis I think, the game was really cute. I could certainly see this game being one of those cute exploration games with some sort of deep philosophical story while just vibing to the music, if expanded on. Great job for your first jam! :)

I love games with this sort of retro style to it! Super unique game and great atmosphere, lighting and effects. Great job!

I actually enjoyed the very simple static shader art effects. I think this could actually be a really neat visual style for a horror puzzle game if expanded on. I will say that yes, the static screen that shows when switching to an area did make my eyes bleed hah. Cool concept! :)

EDIT: Also, I think if you changed your title to even just a picture of the game, that might catch people's attention more. Good luck!

I thought the slime faces were quite funny. It was a unique game for sure, I hadn't seen anyone else do any sort of fast-paced side scroller. I won... but is that really what I want? Great job! :)

Really great take on the another world and candle use! Music was good and the switching between worlds to change the platforms was some neat gameplay. Great job! :)

A stock market game is a funny idea. I liked the music a lot and simple visuals, although I was a bit confused while playing. I think if you introduced maybe some sort of stock graph/other UI and could expand on the stocks a bit more it could be really unique! Good job! :)

Awesome job! Really fun concept and great visuals! It was pretty difficult for me though. I think maybe having some sort of outline or an idea of where the other world is would be nice. With this you could maybe make the game even hard as far as a platformer and less of a memory game, which can get frustrating. Overall, very well done and a great game! :)

Good job for a first jam! I thought the fact that are were actually IN your mind with the squishy sound effects and walls was pretty funny. Some feedback similar to what others have said is adding something in order to make the gameplay a bit more exciting. It wouldn't even need to be a horror game, it could be puzzle based potentially. Overall, great work and good luck in your next one! :) Also I made it to the end B)

I really enjoyed the music, it was very fitting and set the overall creepy feeling quite well.  Unique idea with having to lose and regain the candle. Great job! :)

Great job. The whole game was very cute! It was nice and simple, the puzzle gradually got a little harder which was nice and was just a fun little game. If I had to give some feedback, the controls felt a bit unresponsive at times. Perhaps that's not quite the right word, but I would find myself pushing something too far accidentally a fair amount of times, when it had really felt like I pushed it X far... if that makes any sense. Awesome work though! Meow :)

Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed it so much! Maybe we can make improvements and tweaks in the future, good suggestions! Cheers! :)

Hope you had fun playing! Sounds like an rough bug to run into, thanks for the feedback! It's definitely already hard enough when it's working lol

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed it! :)

The mechanic for the fire hydrant and all that was pretty unique! If there were enemy variations and maybe some upgrades for the fire hydrant or player, it could end up being really cool. Great job and the art and the game! :)

This was awesome. I really liked the take on this one, since a lot of people used the candle in a horror setting, it was refreshing to play a more peaceful game like this. The music was very enjoyable and the mechanic for having to switch to the different candles for the platforming was really fun. It was difficult to tell where I would land sometimes since its a 2D player in a 3D world, but overall you did a great job! :)

I really love the visuals! You did an awesome job with both the shaders and the assets for a creepy retro feel. That and everything else really added to the atmosphere, making it quite scary at times. Great job! :)

You did a really good job with the lighting! It would've been cool to maybe even have some fog as well. The monster models were fun as well, overall a good first game! Having some sort of way to maybe even fight back against the monsters would be a great addition. Good work! )

The sound design really helped the game feel more alive. The art style was also very fitting and well done, that paired nicely with the gameplay. There were times where I felt like there may have been too many monsters or felt as though my gun was a bit useless, but maybe that's also the feeling you'd like to achieve when it comes to horror. It would also be nice to not have to go through the beginning sequence of collecting everything every time you die. Overall, very cute and fun little game, great job! :)

The sprites were really neat! The big candle creature was especially unique and I would've loved to see that expanded on with weird candle creatures! :)

corn goblin, nice B)

Thanks! Not sure why this happened, but it doesn't seem happen every time thankfully! Glad you liked it!

Glad you like it! The screeching of Rudolph in the distance is truly scary

Voice acting is literally 10/10. Can't wait for them to win best actor of the year

cats

Really great job on the art! I think adding maybe some music and more sound effects would make it even better!

Was NOT EXPECTING what happened when you run into a goblin. Cute game! :)

The sounds and enemy designs are really neat. The sounds and feel of shooting your canon were extremely important and you pulled it off.  Despite it being slow, the punch from the cannon has a great force to it. Great work!

Art is great! All the little effects really help the game feel more alive as you're making all the toys. Good job!

Not only does it look great, but the difficulty and mechanics were well done. It was really tough, but done well to not be frustrating. Great job!
