A very funny game with a very cute city. And very interesting riddles!

Very cute. I gotta say I wouldve preferred the puzzle to be a bit more difficult

Developer

Yeah. I agree. For the jam I went easier. I think it was GMTK that said, “if you think your puzzle is easy, make it easier”. I didn’t completely do that, but I did find them easy and I was like “for a game jam, easy is good.”

Thanks for playing and checking it out.

Really cool to see a game that isn't dark and gloomy, given the theme and object we were given!

The take on the object, the asthetic, and the animal puns were nice. The puzzles were good too, but I would've really liked to have an undo button. However, AFAIK, those are not exactly simple to do... so this is just a nitpick.

Also, I found a visual issue. If you get the candle in a puzzle and restart the level, you can get it again. You can, in theory, the infinite candles this way, but this doesn't count towards finishing the game. The only thing that happens is that you can get more than 5 candles, that's all.

 Good job making it!

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it. Yeah, I didn't feel like making something dark. Undo is a neat idea. I went with a full puzzle refresh since they were so short, but it's a good point.

And yes. I know about the infinite candles thing. I submitted the game, and then thinking about the code after I was like... "Hmmm what if someone decides to refresh after they get the candle?" And was like. Well, we'll call it a "secret".

So I should say "Congratulations on finding the secret!!!"

Cheers

P.S. Congrats again on your game. It was a great little puzzler.

This is a really cool proof of concept. As a seasoned Pokemon player, I enjoyed this kind of cozy puzzle quite a lot :)

Nice game, especially the wholesome game idea; kudos for thinking it up. The pixel art is welcoming too!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I was going for a wholesome feel good game.

Great job. The whole game was very cute! It was nice and simple, the puzzle gradually got a little harder which was nice and was just a fun little game. If I had to give some feedback, the controls felt a bit unresponsive at times. Perhaps that's not quite the right word, but I would find myself pushing something too far accidentally a fair amount of times, when it had really felt like I pushed it X far... if that makes any sense. Awesome work though! Meow :)

Developer

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think it might be because the tile movement is set for 16x16 assets, and the cat is technically 16x16, but it doesn't actually fill the whole 16x16 if you know what I mean. So it sometimes feels like it should be stopping, but if you're already starting to move to the next tile it keeps going. At least, that's what I think you're describing. I've noticed it too.

Anyway. I will take another look at the whole thing when the jam is over.

Cheers.

The cuteness and premise sold me, and that's before even getting to the actual gameplay, which was good as well!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Always nice to hear positive feedback.

Your game was excellent as well. I think I already said that though.

Cheers.

The music, the art, the puzzles... all beautiful. Well done! A very worthy contender here.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I'm just getting into game design and game jams, so it's nice to hear.

I saw you did the "least interesting thing" jam on the weekend as well. So did I. Your traffic jam game had me laughing. :)

LOL thanks. I may have taken the LEAST fun too literally.

Keep at it friend, don't stop creating!
