After looking into it a little bit, it seems like there's more to the problem than what I initially thought. Is there any chance you could tell me what operating system and browser you are running the game in? It would help me a lot in investigating what went wrong.

uh oh... the game assumes you have the font "consolas" installed locally, so I guess this is what happens if you don't. I don't understand much about fonts, but I'll see if I can find a way to fix it.

I think I cheesed the 2nd to last level - I ignored the red box and only used one box from the big grid of boxes.

main_6 is now challenge_4, and the GIF with the solution has been removed from the page. Just putting this here to save people confusion

I'll probably replace the gif after the jam is over since I'll be able to tweak the actual levels to make solving them a little smoother. For now, the gif is a form of closure for people who are stuck on level 6, and anyone who is trying to solve it themselves will hopefully understand to ignore the gif before it spoils the solution for them. As for the final level, if you do decide to return to it: keep in mind that the player character has the same effect a 1-block does when on a button

Yeah, 100% custom javascript engine, and all of the visuals are done in code which meant no time needs to be spent loading assets. I did unfortunately run out of time to add sound

The Patrick's Parabox comparison is a very good point. It wasn't something I was consciously thinking about while making the game, but in hindsight there are a surprising number of similarities. As for getting stuck on the last level, do you mean Main_6, or Final? Either way, those both could definitely be improved to remove red herrings. If it was Main_6 that you got stuck on, there does happen to be a gif of the solution posted along with the game, if you're willing to spoil yourself.

I love games that start cryptic like this, although I think it could've used more of a hint to try the "help" command, and that using your mouse is so important. That said, once I had figured out both of those factors, this game was super fun to play through! I loved deciphering how to utilize the commands, although I didn't really figure out what rotate or check do. I also thought it was great how panic-inducing it was when an enemy got near the unit, because it's so tough get away. I couldn't figure how damage worked, since getting hit only a couple times made it impossible to see, so I ended up getting through the levels damageless

Very interesting vibes, and compelling concepts. I'm not sure I entirely understood it, but I think that's okay.

This game is pretty fun! I loved how fluid some of the moves felt to execute. I do wish there was some kind of visual for where platforms are when they aren't solid, because I kept forgetting the exact positions that were safe to change colors. Despite that, I had a lot of fun playing through, and I made it all the way to the end.

(1 edit)

It's intentional that it may seem unreliable at first, but all lasers behave exactly the same way (although I do wish I had done a better job crafting the reveal of the mechanic at that point)

thank you for not adding a time limit on top of all that

Wow, that was amazing... and stressful
