I haven't been keeping up with the latest in sokoban gaming technology, so I wasn't familiar with the kind of 'grabbing' and 'back-pushing' you need for the latter levels. It was fun to figure out. I also appreciate the kind of metafictional thing you did with the notes, so all in all an excellent entry.

Man, that was a huge challenge -- the "buggy" behavior really broke my brain. I'm proud to say I solved all of the problems without any hints, but the last few levels really had me scratching my head. The dev comments throughout made me laugh. Some sound effects + ambient music (but perhaps glitchy like the Portal 2 soundtrack??) would be a nice addition, though. Out of curiosity, what engine did you use?  The instant load time (with no Unity/Godot/GameMaker splash) makes me suspect it's some sort of small Javascript engine? Is it custom?

Developer(+1)

Yeah, 100% custom javascript engine, and all of the visuals are done in code which meant no time needs to be spent loading assets. I did unfortunately run out of time to add sound

Just tried it, congrats on finishing and submitting your entry in time! Style wise this reminded me heavily of Patrick's Parabox, which I don't see in your list of inspirations XvX

I love how you're using the game bugs as features, really fits the theme! Those dev notes must have been on purpose too XD

I am utterly stuck on the last level however. I cannot figure out how to get through without a 1 block, unless there's a mechanic I didn't understand entirely or wasn't fully explained. It's the only level that isn't as intuitive to solve. The rest felt like a slow but nice progressive example of how to use the mechanics to solve each puzzle.

Overall great entry! Since it's a puzzle game, feel free to check out mine, also a puzzle game but in a 3D space and planning to expand on it in the future ^^

Developer

The Patrick's Parabox comparison is a very good point. It wasn't something I was consciously thinking about while making the game, but in hindsight there are a surprising number of similarities. As for getting stuck on the last level, do you mean Main_6, or Final? Either way, those both could definitely be improved to remove red herrings. If it was Main_6 that you got stuck on, there does happen to be a gif of the solution posted along with the game, if you're willing to spoil yourself.

Yeh by last level I meant Final. Main_6 I did notice the gif and solved it XvX
It does spoil the level as it is pretty much the entirety of it, so it might be a good idea to avoid showing an entire later level solved on the game page for future projects. Maybe make it a short montage of snippets of some of the levels, would avoid spoiling an entire puzzle ^^
(and I still have no clue how Final is intended to be solved, and don't have time to try it again atm)

Developer

I'll probably replace the gif after the jam is over since I'll be able to tweak the actual levels to make solving them a little smoother. For now, the gif is a form of closure for people who are stuck on level 6, and anyone who is trying to solve it themselves will hopefully understand to ignore the gif before it spoils the solution for them. As for the final level, if you do decide to return to it: keep in mind that the player character has the same effect a 1-block does when on a button

I liked this puzzle game a lot. Good spin on Sokoban.

Very nice puzzle game! I really like the clean art style. Although, I had a hard time figuring out how the pushing mechanics work, especially when the numbers combine or push eachother. It was especially confusing since I did myself a similar type of puzzle game for the game jam, but it works differently. It was fun though! I played until I was stuck at level 6.

Very nice twist on an already well defined genre.
There is some very sick puzzles in this, and I would encourage people to give it a try and stick to it for a bit more time even if you get stuck !
