You're welcome Aaron! It's generous of you to share your model work for free usage. I hope you keep up the good work and continue learning as you go.

Judging from the screenshots, the texture looks good! I have some constructive criticism to offer:

  • The barrels have too much geometry going around the circumference of the model (I'm guessing 32 vertices all the way around) when it could be as low as 12 or 8.
  • The extruded rings around the body should be part of the texture itself.

The triangle count can depend on the game and personal preference, there's no correct way of making a retro-style 3D model. I think these models would be too many triangles, especially when placed with multiple barrels. I think it's a good start but could use some triangle reduction.

You're welcome, glad I was able to spot it when I could. Perhaps you could update the description of the asset pack to let people know to not use the flammable barrel until you've made a new one?

I've found flammable barrel assets provided by some other artists people can use in the meantime!

Hello! I've taken interest in your recent PSX style asset packs. They're modelled well, although I couldn't help but notice the flammable barrel texture is identical to the one used in Half-Life 2 for the Source engine.

I'm unsure if you knew this, or if it was a mistake, but I strongly advise changing the texture to a CC0/public domain texture, or to make one from scratch. The same goes for any other models potentially using ripped textures.

I like to share any PSX style assets I find with friends and developers looking for well-made authentic models and textures, and, understandably, I want to ensure they're legally okay to use. Nobody wants to get an angry letter from Valve Software, for example especially indie devs.

That said, I don't fully know how or where you got the texture, but I strongly recommend changing it. Thank you for reading this comment, it's a bit lengthy, I just want to help. I'll even point you in the direction of some CC0 texture sites if you'd like!

Hello manglemix. I'm happy to hear my asset pack is being used in such a prestigious project! I was taken aback, in fact. May my assets serve your robotics team well, I'll be putting this on my resume. And thank you for crediting and linking the asset's page on your Github project page. I've read the README file, and I'm happy with its inclusion. 😁

Your contributions to free textures and tools are huge. I see your textures used frequently by indie devs all the time, they're that good.

Very helpful tool. I've always struggled thinking of names for characters, so this feels like a weight off my shoulders. Thank you!

Great work on the modular pieces!

Some were inspired by Sonic and Crash, so you're pretty close.

I probably used screenshots as inspiration, haha. Thank you.

I get you. I feel the same way when texturing . Has to be just right!

Excellent work on the boxes.

Of course; do as you wish. Mentioning me in the credits is always appreciated. :)

Excellent set of modular room pieces!

Fantastic work on these assets Sebastian! They're of exceptional quality.

Fantastic collection CrimsongCat!

Thank you for sharing this asset. It's the best.

Hello chairdev. I apologize; I didn't see your comment! And that's very odd; I'm sure I exported all the files with materials!

It is certainly noticeable, so it's understandable the same criticism would show up more than once.

No problem; glad I could help. I'm excited! Keep up the great work. :)

I really like this program. One problem I'm having is when I copy and paste a path into the import palette field. I paste it to lead to my (F:) drive but upon pressing the enter key it doesn't do anything. Trying to load a gpl file also crashed it. I noticed the paths use forward slashes in the program but on Windows 10 it's backslashes.

I thought you should know about these problems for later updates.

Edit: only some crash Pixelorama, notably the Illu 32 colour palette.

This is really impressive for the Godot engine! PS1-style games are very appealing to me; the distorting polygons work well for horror. I'll admit, I think the floors could use a few more subdivisions to ease the texture warping. Still, if there's more to come of this I'l be sure to stick around!

I'm loving the PS1 aesthetics. The main menu screen and screen fade effect (the one where it sort of increases in contrast as it fades into black) really sells it. Was this project made using the Godot game engine?

Hello. I downloaded the beta version first and noticed the text is incredibly tiny and hard to see. It's understandable given my screen has a 4K resolution. Most of the generators work fine except the cracks option on Voroni Ultimate, which is pure black.

I downloaded the stable version instead. The text is large enough to read without straining but the text is fuzzy. Additionally the preview model for checking textures is pure black and no changes to the lighting fix this. I tried making a texture for it and it also does nothing.

And done! It's been fixed. Again thank you so much.

This package has been updated. File formats, object scaling and more have been updated for game engines like Unity. :)

Hello! I'm sorry I didn't see or reply to this comment. Can't believe I missed it!

That's very strange. I made this model a year or two ago and my modelling knowledge was limited, so perhaps I forgot to remove doubles at the time.

I'll fix the model when I'm able to and let you know, if you're still interested. :)

For some reason the FBX and OBJ folders weren't present so I reconverted everything to work. All the files are back in. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hello doomtucan. I've corrected the file upload, so now the .fbx and .obj files are present. Thank you again for bringing the problem to me as I was able to fix it for other people in the future. :)

It seems the other files missing has happened twice. This is very strange. I'm seeing to it right now.

Hello. I downloaded my asset pack to check if this was true and you're right! It only does contain the .blend files. I'm sure that when I bundled everything together there were also .fbx and .obj files.

Sorry about the trouble. I'm adding the contents in right away, and thank you for the comment.

Hello; thank you so much for showing interest in my assets; I'm glad my assets were of good use! I'm okay with it, don't worry.

Not a problem. :)

You're most welcome. If you have any issues or concerns be sure to let me know. :)

I found a fix, as mentioned in my comment above the original.

No need to thank; it was something I should have enabled long ago, haha.

Oh no I accidentally hidden the file months ago and not noticed! I have corrected this mistake now; thank you so much for notifying me. You should be able to download it now. :)

Oh, I found a fix for my problem! Since I use Windows 10 I searched for Default Programs in the task bar and manually chose what file types are opened by what programs. :)

I would love to use this template but, while I understand it requires Microsoft Word to open, I do not own Microsoft Word, or any other Microsoft Office products. I use LibreOffice for my work, so I am unable to open the files. :c

I must say, I don't come across many giant monster videogames. At least not many good ones!

Thank you my friend! If you are having any issues with it, be sure to let me know. :)
