Hey Mark,
Great game. A big improvement over V1.2. Feels very polished to play and it's nice to move around. Also, the slight shaking effect that occurs when rotating the switch is really nice.
I just have a few things to address:
1. Hub traversal and throwing the magnet to enter a level can get tedious after a while once you've completed most of the levels.
2. In the accessibility options, when changing the magnet colour, I thought there was a bug at first when I was trying to change one of the magnets from blue to red. After a while, I realised that it was because the 2 magnets couldn't be the same colour. Perhaps if there was some sort of highlight around one of the magnet colours to clarify which one you can't change to yet, would be easier to understand.
I'm really inspired by your game dev series so far and learning a lot from your game development experience.
Good Luck with the rest of the development and keep up the great work! :-)
Great Concept! Definitely fun once you understand how it works. Would be nice if there was a counter that showed you how many steps you had left when walking around in the dungeon before going back to placing tiles on the map. But still, really enjoyed the atmosphere and loved the sounds for the monsters too ;-D
Is it like a QTE where you have to press Q or E at the moment the button prompts appear to change weapon for either character? I wasn't quite sure if you could pick up weapons from the corpses of enemies or if it was just a bug so it seemed a bit confusing to me. There is one bug I came across where if you die and press retry, the game freezes upon reloading the level and you have to press pause and then resume to unfreeze the screen and keep playing. Hope that helps!
Interesting concept guys! However, it is very buggy and it's confusing to know what the goal is.
I like the idea of being a small ant in a familiar but large environment and having to join up a small ant army in the process. However, it gets really buggy when joining the small ants with each other as they tend to bug out when they move with the player or collide with other objects.
If you consider working on the game more after the jam, you could try adding some platforming and some puzzles that involve the small ants in some meaningful way to keep the game engaging. Increasing the movement speed of the player would increase enjoyment as well since it can be quite tedious having to move the character across the map.
Hope this feedback helps but I definitely would be interested in seeing this concept develop further.
Deadly game, feels very much like a game of snake, but you have to move at a more methodical pace. I love the surprise in level 5 when you think you'll get just one attachment like in previous levels but instead, you slowly realise that get a whole group of attachments! Great game and the art and music are on point!
