no shame in being honest! =)

loved it! clever puzzles, satisfying mechanics, awesome art, great music! major kudos to everyone involved!

absolutely love this it's so silly, easily my favorite game I've played from the jam so far. well done!

ah yes of course

this is probably my favorite puzzle game of the jam, super inventive ideas, but for certain levels (read: the pumpkin one) the shuriken handled weirdly making it easy to get stuck and have to reset

the style is cool but the shadow effect is a bit exaggerated and makes some parts nearly impossible to see without tearing down a lot of the level, making you have to rely on guesswork to figure out where things are going

music and art are also very well done

overall, huge props to you :) this is awesome

  • the music goes insanely hard
  • game's really addictive
  • love the art style
  • SIR CAN YOU PLEASE WAIT FOR A SECOND WE'RE ABSOLUTELY PACKED RIGHT NOW HOLY SH**
  • didn't upgrade my attack stuff until it was too late
  • suggestion: there should be something where customers have a small chance to attack you if they don't like the drink, so that way even if you're playing really well in terms of serving, you still get to defend yourself fairly early on
  • couldn't really tell whether or not my drinks were optimal until it was too late
  • honestly the game would be already incredible without the attack aspect, but you went above and beyond, well done

idk how to do long detailed wall-of-text reviews, so you get a list

great game, easily one of my favorites I've played so far, kudos to you all :D

Thanks for the feedback! Regarding your point about it being not in an engine, it’s made in Godot so idk where you’re getting that from, thanks anyway though =)

super awesome concept! bit hard to grasp at first, but incredibly rewarding once you do! well done

buttery smooth platforming mechanics, BEAUTIFUL art, the realm switching mechanic is amazing, and the combat is superb. though it did also feel a lot of the time like i was just dying for no apparent reason. an indicator for when the player gets hurt would be nice

overall, well done!

Here's a less epic Galactum reply for you

"no fullscreen button 😭"
this is strategic, the game breaks in full screen

"shooting enemies should have a small delay before shooting you when they spot you, kinda like "reaction time""
there is one, but it's randomised, so might be too small to notice at times

"I love the potion crafter, it's really well done and how other games with the same mechanic should do it too"
<3

"Enemy hitbox remains there for a bit more after dying, sometimes ate my shots"
enemy hitbox was still hungry (read: this is a bug, thank you for pointing it out)

"I'm glad you added those polishing bits I told you on discord. It definitely made the game feel a lot better"
i feel like you should be considered a team member for that tbh cause it brought the game from a 2/10 to a 6/10

"One thing would be camera movement based on your mouse cursor location (very common in these sorts of games)."
good idea, wish i'd thought of that

"Game mechanics were really easy to understand"
game mechanics were really easy to understand because I am not competent enough to create complicated mechanics. still, I will take it, thanks :D

"I wasn't upset at dying because of the upgrade mechanics. It was a great design choice, that makes getting back to where you died faster."
exactly as intended, glad to hear it

"I feel like most potions should last longer"
use more eternal essence or upgrade their duration

"I would have liked to see a heal potion, but I guess that would change the game a lot, so there are reasons to not add it as well."
the omelette of darkness heals 1 hp/s, but I wanted people to discover that themselves

"You can shoot through wall corners, which allowed one cheese in total."
this game is not suitable for the lactose-intolerant (read: this is intentional, you can actually cheese pretty much every enemy if you get the right angle and timing)

"I found myself not using the flashlight that often, mostly because it stopped me from shooting. It might be nicer if you could shoot while using the flashlight, but only playtesting can decide that."
the night vision potion lets you shoot and pass through walls while still being able to see in the dark

"I liked the variety of levels"
I hated designing the variety of levels, glad you like them though!

"Enemy idea: some guy who shoots 5 bullets really fast, then needs to reload for a bit."
I love this

"I definitely would have played more, but I have other stuff to do xd."
who needs other stuff when you have kickass laser gun?

"All in all, a really solid game, very addicting."
<3

"Needs some work in art and music, but you probably know that too."
from my game design document:
"The art is severely limited by my lack of artistic capabilities."
also applies for the music
will work on changing that though, thanks for the feedback

On a real note though, thank you so so much for this review, really incredible feedback on pretty much every aspect. It's going to be the very first thing I turn to if I continue working on this game. I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed it. You're awesome! :D

turn off grid snapping

were sorry for pressuring you or whatever but we're just really excited for this lol

ignore everything everyone said here, i (and probably everyone else) would rather wait more for a good experience than get it now and be underwhelmed

looking forward to eating some pancakes

i mean it's bound to release eventually, right?

ah k it's still fairly early on in the day in some places there so makes sense

its no longer july 5th for me, i have been lied to, out of curiosity where are nightmargin and team based?

319 and then 316

why is this game so damn fun

Thank you!! Good luck to you as well :)

thanks for the feedback! I'm not quite sure why that bug happened (it did not happen during playtesting) but I will be looking into it :) I was planning to add a few more mechanics as well as a tutorial, and fix some of the bugs, but obviously time constraints as well as the lack of prior experience (this is my first game ever) prevented me from doing so. Good luck :)

that's pretty strange, I'll look into what happened. anyway thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you liked the thumbnail image, even though if I'm honest I think it makes the game look way better than it is haha

Yeah, this is actually the first game I've ever made. I completely agree with you on the fact that it's hard to tell exactly whats going on, and i believe part of that is because there wasn't a proper tutorial explaining the game to the player (I wanted to add one but ran out of time). Thank you so much for the feedback, appreciate it! Good luck :)

cool game! I don't know if this just me, but the spiral attack is really difficult to get around and I always ended up dying when it happened. Also, movement could be slightly faster, but other than that awesome game. Good luck! :)

Yeah i was actually planning to fix the issues you mentioned but I couldn't figure out how to fix collisions and didn't have enough time to add more enemy types, which is also why the game lacks a proper tutorial, menu or any sound effects. Thanks a lot for the feedback nonetheless :)

Glad you liked it! Good luck as well :)

Fun game but keeps crashing for me

incredibly fun game, music and sounds are great too. awesome job

the bounding box idea was super cool i really liked it

Good fun

simple but fun, good game! however the game is cropped unless playing in full screen, but other than that good job

this is so fun! amazing job

Cool concept, but kinda broken

Pretty fun! Sideways movement is a bit wonky though. Also, why does the camera randomly snap to a different rotation? Other than that, cool game. Nice work :)

I didn't quite get it, but still pretty fun. Maybe add a tutorial though? Other than that, cool game :)

Yeah, you're supposed to be able to multi jump, the idea is you have a limited amount of jumps, and you can use as many of them as you want at the same time, though it's better to be efficient with them. thanks for the feedback!
