i managed to get the game to run by giving it the "Sprite/Bottle.png" the error was whining about.

Gameplay: even when it does function, the gameplay left me confused and underwhelmed. i think the main problem here is the lack of explanation for how to make different potions of different types. even an included README.txt with the potion recipes would have gone a long way to making me feel more motivated to keep playing. as for the vampire survivor part; it's conceptually interesting how you have to drag the ingredients back to the spawn point in order to collect them. i feel the main takeaway here is that the game needed to be more clear about what it is the player is ment to do

Graphics: the visuals are a bit basic, yet charming. aside from the missing sprite for the bottle, it's functional. i particularly like the main character with their cute little face.

Audio: only thing holding me back from giving it all 5 stars was the kind of unimpressive sound effects. the music was really nice. the shop theme has these nice and chill vibes.

Theme: having the fire heat a cauldron is a fine concept, but i was left a little underwhelmed by how much fire was featured. i feel like we should have a fire based attack, or have to collect fuel for the fire.

so a mixed bag overall. you did some things particularly well, namely the music. other things felt like they did not get the time or attention that they needed.

Gameplay: the bones of the game are very solid, traditional space shooter gameplay. but there are long stretches where very few enemies attack you. the ones that do attack you tend to follow very repetitive patterns. one of the bosses has a laser beam attack that swallows up a 4th of the screen and there is little to no telegraphing for it. to have any chance of avoiding it i just kind of had to get a feel for the timing. thankfully the timing seemed consistent. i feel bad having bad things to say about the gameplay as it does feel good when all of the stars align, when your blowing things up and dodging attacks. unfortunately that took up a fraction of my time playing it. the game crashed at about level 16 and i felt no motivation to keep playing it past that.

Graphics: very stylish and cool, leaning well into that monochrome old school style. it functions well enough most of the time but it's easy to loose track of the enemy's bullets when things start to get chaotic. the style breaks slightly when the background is any lighter shade then black, it becomes much harder to tell objects apart from the background.

Audio: the music and sounds where very functional and appropriate to the graphics and gameplay. i only noticed a single action theme and a single boss theme. some more variety would have helped out, but not major complaints otherwise

Theme: you say the game is based off of the first nadine's fleet but the two games are nearly identical. i was hoping for a more serious remix then just having a few new powerups

(1 edit)

Gameplay: it ended up boiling down to "stand in place and shoot through the well". i like that the crabs rapidly ramped up their assault. the thing i like the most is that the game waisted no time throwing me into the thick of it.

Graphics: the crabs defeat animation was very nice, very poofy. everything about the sprite work was clean. i liked the weird moon/planet you see from looking straight up. the only real let down here is the very plain environment.

Audio: the music and sound effects where very solid, i have nothing special to say about them.

Theme: using the power of the wish orb to wish the crabs away, very fine. tho now im wondering about the lore here. whats at the bottom of the well? why has it aggroed the crabs? why does the well have a tiny little face? what does the wish orb have to do with all of this? very nice stuff

Gameplay: the game was fun once it got upto a high speed but it took a devastatingly long time to get there. a lot of the time was spent dodging very slow moving objects with little else to do. zipping after the wish orb at high speeds was pretty fun tho

Graphics: the assets you used where fine, but they where oddly blurry. the way particles spawned in on the main character also looked a bit off.

Audio: the music was positively enchanting, it's a shame that it did not loop

Theme: i think it's very funny that we're chasing down a wish orb that dosent want to grant wishes

Gameplay: well, it's functional at least. less broken then some AAA games iv played. i can tell from playing that you must have ran out of time somewhere. but good on you for still submitting something, thats better then most because most submit nothing at all! i hope to see your name again in the third alchemy jam

Graphics: the main character is cute and the background is nice. the menus before the gameplay looked a little bare but everything was functional

Audio: silence is bliss sometimes

Theme: i saw not a single orb nor a wish anywhere in sight.

Im conflicted on the gameplay. It's very neat to combine the shapes together to unlock hexes and throw spells at the enemies, but playing felt very unintuitive. I did not like the large text dump of a tutorial at the start and i REALLY dont like having to reference the list on the left to find out which shapes are capable of combining. I found that for the orbs, you could combine the ones that had a line through with with the ones that did not and that was consistant. For the hexes i found no such pattern so i have to break my flow constantly to reference the list. It would be lovely if the hexes followed an easy to remember visual pattern the way the orbs did. If i where to play the game often enough the patterns would become intuitive eventually but as a new player i found it very irritating having to look at that list. But the core of what you have here is very interesting. I could see someone taking time to optimize their gameplay and find efficient patterns so they would not have to refresh too often.

Visuals where pleasant to look at and functional. I dont have much to say about them

Music was excellent, very funky.

Theme felt very flimsy, the game had some orbs but very few wishes. your redesigned wish orb asset looked very slick tho

it was super interesting watching your gameplay video. i felt like i could guess what was going through your head at any given point based on how you where playing

i know the tower at the end is significantly harder then the rest of the game and i also know it's probably going to stump some people. it might even drag my rating down. but i know that it's not so difficult as to be impossible for the average person. it was fun watching you try out different strategies to beat that part in real time. i think at one part you switched to either keyboard or d-pad for more precise movement

i respect the effort, i didn't manage to finish my game for alchemy jam either
